Alfonso Ribeiro of the hit TV show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is suing Fortnite over the Carlton Dance that is a dance emote in the battle royale sensation; Fortnite. In addition, he is also suing 2K for the same exact think in the basketball game series

Alfonse played the role of Carlton in the show, where his famous finger snapping, hip swinging dance became an instant hit back in the day. If there is any dance move more famous than the Carlton Dance, then it might just be the Moonwalk.

The dance was made into a Dance Emote and added in the game of Fortnite. The Emote was titled “Fresh”, and had stayed in the game for a long time. The emote was seen as back as Season 2 of Fortnite.

But now that Fortnite is a hugely popular game, also winning the game of the year award this month, Alfonso is suing the creators of the game for using his dance move in the game.

In an interview to TMZ, Alfonso’s attorney said, “ it is widely recognized that Mr. Ribeiro’s likeness and intellectual property have been misappropriated by Epic Games in the most popular video game currently in the world, Fortnite.

Epic has earned record profits off of downloadable content in the game, including emotes like ‘Fresh’. Yet Epic has failed to compensate or even ask permission from Mr Ribeiro for the use of his likeness and iconic intellectual property.

We are not quite sure why Alfonso and his legal team are suing 2K Games, as the Carlton dance only appear in Fortnite out of the two.

This is not the first time Epic Games is being sued over a Fortnite Dance Emote. Previously rapper 2 Milly has also sued Epic for a Dance emote that resembles his signature dance move.
