Because of these properties, we have decided to share two of the best builds for Colossus out of which one is for close-range while the second one is for mid-range combat.

Since with Colossus, you will want to stick closer to your enemies, we have not added a long range build for Colossus because that just eliminates the main strength of Colossus which is taking damage like a boss. While playing as Colossus your main goal is to stick close to enemies and take as much damage as possible so that other players in your part get minimum damage.

Our Anthem Best Colossus Builds Guide details the best builds for Colossus javelin in Anthem. We have detailed two builds below for you to try if you prefer using Colossus and your primary mode of playing is tanking.

Close-Range Build

For this build, you will right in your enemies face so we must make the Colossus even stronger by increasing its defense. You will use Colossus’ Flamethrower and Lightning Coil weapons to absolutely annihilate your enemies. This is excellent for taking down shielded and armored enemies who come in your face. Lesser enemies are no match for this build.

You must reinforce your Javelin’s armor for this build as you will be encountering enemies in very close proximity and you will be taking a lot of damage. You do not want to compromise self-defense over the attack power. Both should be at par for the perfect build. With this build, you can easily pick health packs from slain enemies as well.

You will require the following gear loadout for this build.

Lightning Coil (Ordinance Launcher) – It is used to detonate burned enemies and serves as damage support in battle.
Flamethrower (Heavy Assault Launcher) – It can burn and prime enemies. It is also super effective against enemy shields.
Shield Pulse (Support Gear) – It can protect Colossus from enemy fire in combat

Both the Lightning Coil and Flamethrower are excellent close combat weapons. You will use the flamethrower to burn your enemies and prime them and then move in using the Shield Pulse and detonate the burning enemies using the Lightning Coil. It comes with a very special feature which allows you to use the Lightning Coil to use while shielding. Blow up your enemies with this ultimate combo.

Apart from the main loadout, the following components are recommended for this build.

Colossus Combo Augment – Increases combo damage
Overclocked Regulator – Increases fire and electricity damage
Structural Reinforcement – Increases shield massively
Guardian Insignia – Increases activation time of support abilities

You must use these components as they not only increase the offense of your javelin but also increase its defense. You will deal more damage and absorb more damage as well thanks to these components.

Medium Range Build

If you want to have a little breathing room between yourself and your enemies, this build is for you. It offers great damage, great defense boost and in addition, some breathing room as well. For this build, you will use Firewall Mortar and Railgun. The Firewall Mortar has an area-of-denial which sets up enemies nicely for the second hit.

For the finishing blow, you will use the Railgun to complete the combo and make your enemies explode which were primed by your Firewall Mortar. This causes massive damage to armored enemies. With this build, you will also get a little space so you will not take too much damage like with the close range build.

You will need the following loadout for this build.

Firewall Mortar (Ordinance Launcher) – This weapon deals DoT damage and each attack comes with an area of denial. You will use this to prime your enemies.
Railgun (Heavy Assault Launchers) – This is used to detonate primed enemies and is super effective against armored enemies.
Shield Pulse (Support Gear) – It will increase the defense of your javelin in combat.

Once in combat, start with firing your Firewall Mortar which will deal DoT damage to enemies and also burn them to prime them. Your second shot should be of your charged Railgun which will deal massive damage to enemies even if they armored and detonate them. With the railgun, you can easily take down tougher enemies by shooting at their strong points when primed.

Along with the main loadout, you must use the following components.

Colossus Combo Augment – Increases combo damage
Heavy Assault Augment – Increases your heavy-assault launcher’s damage
Explosives Expert – Increases your blast damage

With these components equipped, your overall blast damage will increase which will make your Railgun even more powerful when you use it to explode primed enemies. Stick to this loadouts and you will have a stellar Colossus javelin for every situation.
