Stream Elements has released the latest streaming industry report and according to the report, Apex Legends in declining very quickly on Twitch. In the past few weeks, Apex Legends has seen a huge decline while Fortnite, on the other hand, has been very steady and nearly doubles Apex Legend when it comes to Twitch viewers.
Respawn Entertainment released the first season for Apex Legends last month however fans were extremely disappointed with the content that came with it. It seriously lacks quality when compared with its direct competitor, Fortnite. When Apex Legends was released in February, it was considered to be a serious threat to Fortnite but now it seems that the game is dying and Fortnite, on the other hand, is doing extremely well.
Respawn has been extremely slow on game updates and content so far and it seems to be affecting the title in many different ways let alone just Twitch viewership. Most of the streamers have stopped playing the game and are now moving back to their original titles which include PUGB, Fortnite, and Blackout. Battlefield V’s Firestorm is also suffering massively in the battle royale fight.
We cannot blame Apex Legends to fall behind at this point because even Fortnite had a very lousy first season. The game picked up pace after its second and third season however Apex Legends was released into a very brutal time when the battle royale genre was already invaded by heavy hitters like PUBG, Fortnite, and Blackout. Respawn should have taken a more aggressive stance towards the first season and the post-launch content.
Even during seasons, Epic Games continuously adds more and more content to the game such as the recently released Air Royale LTM which is a brand new way of playing battle royale in Fortnite. Unless Respawn goes on the offensive and starts full-time support for Apex Legends like Epic Games has for Fortnite, it can kiss the top spot goodbye as Fortnite is now back on the top and is looking stronger than ever as the leader of the battle royale genre.
