Beginner’s Guide – ARK: Genesis
Our ARK: Genesis Beginner’s Guide details everything that you need to know while starting ARK: Genesis for the first time.
Listen to Your Assistant HLN-A
A brand new mechanic introduced in ARK: Genesis is your very own assistant. This looks pretty much like Destiny’s Ghost however HLN-A is much more useful than Ghost. HLN-A will help you in a lot of tasks such as teleporting to another biome, giving you tips throughout your journey throughout the game and even allowing you to spend your Hexagons. Upon interacting with the assistant, you can use a menu for choosing a task.
Exchange Your Hexagons for Items
HLN-A comes with an extremely convenient mechanic of allowing you to exchange your Hexagons for different items which include Lootcrates and different resources found in the world. You earn Hexagons by completing different missions in the simulation and once you have enough Hexagons, you can simply interact with HLN-A, select ‘Exchange Hexagons’ and pick whatever thing you want from the list.
Choose Your Starting Biome Carefully
Genesis offers five biomes and each biome comes with its own unique challenges and rewards. It goes without saying but harder a biome is, better the rewards it will offer you right from the start of the game. Depending on what sort of gameplay you prefer, you can opt for the much calmer biomes or jump directly into tougher biomes where more predators are found and fewer resources are present. While interacting with HLN-A, choose ‘Teleport Biome’ and you will be shown all Biomes. The game also tells you how hard each Biome really is.
Complete Biome Missions to Earn Hexagons
New to ARK: Genesis are Biome Missions which are unique to different biomes. Each biome comes with different biomes in the game and depending on their difficulty, you will be awarded with Hexagons once you manage to complete them. Open your inventory and then switch to the missions’ tab to check which missions are available to you. Complete specific missions to earn higher amounts of Hexagons but they will be tougher as well. You can also track the missions that you want to start and complete first.
Be Wary of Environmental Hazards
Each of the biome in ARK: Genesis comes with its own environmental hazards. You must be aware of these hazards and try to avoid them as much as you can to survive in the simulation. The Arctic Biome has blizzards, the Volcanic Biome has volcanic eruptions, the Ocean Biome has cyclones and so on. Each of the biomes will test your survival skills so make sure that you watch out for these environmental hazards.
HLN-A Can Scan Creatures for You
Another useful feature included in the new DLC is to scan the creatures in front of you. Approach the creature and press H on PC to scan the creature. HLN-A will analyze the creature and display all sorts of information about the creature to you in a meaningful small pop up menu. You can use this handy feature to scan all sorts of creatures in the biomes and get to know detailed information about them.
Find and Activate Glitches to Know More About the World of Genesis
If you are curious about the world of ARK: Genesis, you can find and activate glitches found all over the map. HLN-A will translate these glitches and tell you more about what happened at that particular location or about the world itself. The developer has replaced the explorer notes with these glitches. It makes sense because we are essentially inside a simulation so everything in the world in digital.
