Emperor Mind Flayer Quest Guide – Baldur’s Gate 3
When you reach Act 3 of the main story quest, you will be given the option of saving the Emperor Mind Flayer and you have to decide whether to help him or not. If you do decide to help him, there is a twisted option to romance him as well but that is for another guide.
Saving the Emperor Mind Flayer in Baldur’s Gate 3
During act 3 of the main story arc, you will reach Wyrm’s Crossing and while resting at the outpost, you will be attacked by Githyanki Monks. When this attack happens, a portal opens near you, and you are given three turns to reach the portal otherwise everyone who has the tadpole in them will be instantly controlled by the Absolute and the game will be over. Your goal here is to ensure that you reach the portal with a character that has a tadpole in their brain. Kill as many enemies as you want but make sure that you are nearing the portal as well.
Upon entering the portal, you will find yourself in the Astral Plane however the fight is not over yet. Kill the enemies that you encounter until you can reach the large skull in the middle of the room. Once you arrive there, the Emperor Mind Flayer will come to you. At this point, the Emperor Mind Flayer will ask that you help him and save his domain from the attack. At this point, do not try and attack him because this will instantly end the game for you since the Emperor is the only one stopping the Absolute from taking over your mind and if he is out of the picture, everything ends instantly for you.
Helping the Emperor
In order to help the Emperor, you must fight and defeat the Githyanki enemies present in the area. Kill all four of them and you will save the Emperor. At this point, you will get to know that the Emperor is the Dreamlover who has been visiting you during your dreams. He was an adventurer just like you and he was infested with the tadpole same as you but he was not as lucky as you are and ended up being converted into a Mind Flayer. At this moment, you will get to learn everything there is about the Emperor so make sure that you listen carefully. Once the conversation is over, he will give you the Astral-Touched Tadpole which will allow you to become Half-Ilithid and unlock the best Illithid Powers for your character.
