New Game Blair Witch Announced At Xbox E3 2019 Event, Launches on August 30 This Year

Blair Witch

A totally new Blair Witch game has been announced at the Xbox E3 2019 Briefing and it will be launching on August 30, 2019. The game is a first-person story driver psychological horror game that seems to be based on the popular movie with the similar name The Blair Witch Project, which was released back in 1999.

The trailer shows a police officer with his trusty dog, in search of a missing person in the woods. This is where he encounters creepy ghouls that he has to avoid and find clues to find the missing person.

The game also looks to be inspired by Outlast, with the same mechanics as following around with a camera and exploring in the dark. The game will be available on Xbox Game Pass

The trailer shows the protagonist in the densely wooded forest, with a camcorder and trying to run away from the thing that is hunting him. Just like the movie, the game will have the same creepy feeling of being followed around, and discovering disturbing clues in the forest and in abandoned houses.

Blair Witch

It’s 1996. A young boy disappears in the Black Hills Forest near Burkittsville, Maryland. As Ellis, a former police officer with a troubled past, you join the search. What starts as an ordinary investigation soon turns into an endless nightmare as you confront your fears and the Blair Witch, a mysterious force that haunts the woods.

The game is being developed by Bloober Team, who is also known for titles like Observer and Layers of Fear. Both of these games have been psychological horror, and Blair Witch is also following in the same steps. Nonetheless, it will be quiet interesting to see how the game story sets up or if it is entirely influenced by the movie of the same name.

Fans may remember when The Blair Witch Project came out, and how it set a new perspective of a film through the lens of an amateur cameraman. The movie was portrayed as a documentary where three friends lurk in the forest to document the legend known as the Blair Witch. The three disappear but their equipment is discovered a year later with the footage being recovered from the camera, which is the film that the viewers could actually see.

This is a developing story. Updates will be added shortly.
