Blizzard Entertainment has announced that there are no plans for Warcraft 4 at this point and the developer’s focus is on the upcoming remaster Warcraft III: Reforged. However, the possibility of a sequel to the game is not out of the question.
This was stated by Pete Stilwell, Senior Producer at Blizzard Entertainment, in an exclusive interview with GameSpot. Pete stated that he will not rule out the possibility of a sequel to Warcraft III however, currently all of their focus is on the remaster of Warcraft III, Reforged which is coming out in 2019. His official words were
I mean, I wouldn’t rule anything out, but we don’t have any plans around [Warcraft IV] at this point. Getting [Warcraft III: Reforged] right, I think, is our priority first and foremost,”
The remaster of 2002’s classic Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos was announced by Blizzard during BlizzCon 2018 and it includes The Frozen Throne expansion which was released for the base game in 2003. The remaster features both titles in 4K detail with new animations and new UI and world editor upgrades.
The remaster has remodeled characters that look amazing in high definition as well as new animations catering to more powerful machines. The developers want to target the hardcore fans of the series with the remaster who want to relive the franchise’s earlier days. The remaster is also getting a special edition called Spoils of War edition.
Spoils of War edition comes with special content for Diablo III, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, World of Warcraft, and Heroes of the Storm. Players interested in the special edition can now pre-order by heading to the official Blizzard website. The standard version of the remaster costs $29.99 while the Spoils of War Edition costs $39.99.
