Now that Bungie is independent, there are a couple of things it can have more control over. Bungie talked about how it has learned what the players want and that content will be delivered more frequently. Bungie also mentioned that it is not going to adopt a crunch culture in order to do so with Destiny 2. Bungie wants people to be happy to go to work each day.
Pleasing fans is great but that is often done at the expense of increasing working hours and crunch culture. Bungie is not in favor of that. Destiny 2 project lead Scott Taylor explained that Bungie has been evolving the game. Each year Destiny 2 has been different and Bungie is going to keep the changes coming. Here is what he had to say regarding the matter:
What we’re doing right now is we’re doing these premium seasons that you can opt into. The thing that we’ve learned this year with annual passes that players want that, [they] want content to be coming as often as we can deliver it, the a la carte, the season model here that we’re doing, we think is going to be continuing to evolve in that direction, where we’re delivering content as players want it.
We have already seen some great changes to Destiny 2 now that Bungie is independent. The game is coming to Steam later this year and players will be able to migrate their data to the new platform. Destiny 2 Shadowkeep expansion is coming in September and will be available for free on Google Stadia if you buy the Founders Edition.
The future seems bright for Destiny 2 and in a recent vidoc the devs talked about how it is going to keep content coming for another few years. So Destiny 3 might not release for a while.
Let us know what you think about the future of Destiny 2 and whether or not you are excited about the direction that Bungie has taken.
