Call of Duty Warzone Beginner’s Guide

This Call of Duty Warzone Beginner’s Guide will show you everything you need to know as a beginner in the new game. While Call of Duty Warzone is a typical battle royale game, it still comes with new features and mechanics that you might want to get familiar with if you want to dominate in a match.

Starting from the basics, the game comes with two different modes. The first is the classic Battle Royale, while the second is Plunder. Both modes require different strategies to play and win the game.

Below we have detailed what you should expect as a beginner in Call of Duty Warzone.

Game Modes

As mentioned before, the Warzone comes with two different game modes. The first is the traditional battle royale which features 150 players. Each team has three players that fight for the win. While the number of players is quite big in the game, it makes up for the constant action that you will be facing on the huge map.

The second mode is Plunder, which allows players to compete for in-game cash. The players with the most cash at the end of the match are winners. In this mode, you are given small missions called Contracts. These give out various missions that you and your team have to complete, as they range from opening supple boxes or having to secure a location.

With all the cash you earn in this mode, you can use it to buy special items and loot from Buy Stations that are found all around the map. The Buy Station will allow you to purchase game items like self revive kits, and even Redeploy Tokens to bring back one of your squadmates.

Basic Gameplay

Warzone will put you and your team along with 150 other players in a large map filled with many points of interest. After dropping down, you need to pick up weapons and immediately start fighting against opponents that may have also landed there.

Besides the weapons, you also have health and armor items. The game’s tutorial gives you a pretty good idea of how your Armor is supposed to work and how you can wear it for protection. The game also does a good job with sound, where you can hear the opponent’s armor cracking away when you shoot at them. This feature has been seen on multiple battle royale games, which makes it easier for you to recognize if you have broken through the armor of the opponent.

In total, you can equip three armor plates to bring up the total health and armor to 250. Each armor plate grants you 50 armor, alongside your health which is 100.

The game also features a ping system that not only allows you to ping a certain location for your team to see but also allows you to ping nearby enemies that you may have spotted. This works great if you are playing with random players in your team that might be without a microphone.

What Happens When You Die?

When you are hit by the opponent, you will be knocked down and eligible for a revive if your teammates do so within a set time. If you die, you can still come back to the game and join your team. However, you first have to go through the Gulag.

In the Gulag, you will have to fight a 1v1 against another player. You have to win this fight to the death if you want to respawn back to your team. If you fail in that, you are left up to your team to have enough cash to redeploy you. Redeploying will cost your team $4,500 to purchase the redeploy and to bring you back.

Warzone Tips

Call of Duty is known for its fast-paced action where you are just itching to get into the fight and get some kills. Warzone, however, needs to be played strategically for the long game. This does not mean that you should just camp around and wait to be one of the last teams. But you should know how to fight aggressively and retreat when you feel you might die.

You can also use the Load-Out Drops that allow you to get your own loadout in the middle of the match. Prior to starting a match, you can create your own custom loadout that can be later summoned in the match. However, you require the Load-Out Drop marker to get the loadout drop. You can either get them from the Buy Stations or find them as random loot on the ground.

Sometimes it is best to avoid contact and watch the opponents fight other teams. This way, you can the third party and ambush the other team after they think they are done fighting. The game also requires a lot of practice to understand the locations, combat mechanics and what items you need and don’t need. There are plenty of weapons that you can try out that best suit your gameplay style. From close combat shotguns, SMG, to having long-ranged sniper rifles. The game gives you plenty of choices and load-outs.

Another useful feature is the ping system that you should always use. It saves time even if you are playing with your friends and will allow them to go to a certain location that you might have marked. The best thing about the ping system is that it also warns about nearby enemies. This way, you can alert your team before engaging and communicate the location of the opponents.

The game also has various vehicles that you can use for transport. From the smaller and agile ATV, to even Helicopters with mounted guns, you have plenty of choices provided if you can find them in the game. However, these vehicles make you a target from far as they are pretty noisy and will alert opponents of your presence.

Lastly, the gas circle in this battle royale game is super damaging and is best to stay out of. Unlike other games where you can still stay in the circle in the gas and take a little damage over time, Warzone does not want you to stay in the circle for even a few seconds. Once in the gas, you might die within seconds. So it is best to stay out of the gas and avoid it at all costs.
