A German retailer has sold its entire stock of the upcoming Intel Core i7-11700K processor before the official launch and because of that, benchmarks of the processor have also started to appear online. The German retailer sold out its entire stock of 120 11th Gen Rocket Lake i7-11700K processors weeks before the official launch.
The news was posted by Hexus in which they report that a big German retailer Mind Factory, has sold its entire stock of 120 Intel Core i7-11700K to its customers before the official launch which is expected to be mid to late March.
Reports say that the sale of Intel Core i7-11700K processors a full three days before the stock was completely depleted. It was also stated that store employees were told by managers that these Rocket Lake processors could be sold.
Because of such a large-scale sale of 120 processors before launch, many benchmarks have started to appear online. Hardwareluxx forum users were able to benchmark the processors in detail. Below is the performance comparison of the Intel i7-11700K with other processors.
Processor | Cinebench R20 Single Threaded Benchmark | Cinebench R20 Multi-Threaded Benchmark |
Ryzen 9 5950X | 633 | 10146 |
Ryzen 7 5800X | 622 | 6022 |
Core i7-11700K | 600 | 5999 |
Core i9-10900K | 530 | 5749 |
Core i7-10700K | 506 | 4947 |
Core i7-9700K | 492 | 3667 |
Core i7-8700K | 464 | 3409 |
Core i7-7700K | 461 | 2344 |
The Intel Core i7-11700K is an 8 core and 16 thread CPU having a base clock of 3.6 GHz and a single-core boost clock of 5.0 GHz which goes down to 4.6 GHz on all cores. This lower-binned chip will sit at around 225-250W (PL2) limit while the PL1 limit will be standard at 125W. The Core i7-11700K is set to be a competitor against the Ryzen 7 5800X.
But from the benchmark scores posted online, i7-11700K is about 4% slower than the Ryzen 7 5800X in single-thread benchmarks but is almost 13% faster than its predecessor, the 10700K. In multi-thread benchmarks, the i7-11700K is still behind the Ryzen 7 5800X, falling behind 5%. But is roughly 16% faster than the 10700K.
The Intel Core i7-11700K, however beats out the last generation flagship 10900K in single-thread performance, 13% faster than the i9-10900K but falls behind in multi-threaded benchmarks being 4% slower.
We will have to wait for official launch and more benchmarks to see if these results are something to go by.
