Cyberpunk 2077 Was Inspired by Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines

Cyberpunk 2077

There is a lot of hype around Cyberpunk 2077 and recently CDPR has been pretty vocal about the game. We hear something new about the game pretty much every week now. Fans have bee waiting for the game for a long time now and the more frequent information might hint at the release date being announced soon.

Cyberpunk 2077 quest director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, talked about the inspiration behind the game and he mentioned that in one form or the other the game seems to be inspired by Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines. This is very interesting indeed keeping in mind how old this game is. The following is what he had to say in this regard:

In terms of what is an RPG in the first person view and the way in which its non-linearity is built in the gameplay and dialogue, this one of course. We are all players and we enjoy different genres but as a personal question, I would say Vampire Bloodlines. Specifically, because it is the perfect example of a first person game and RPG that I personally enjoyed.

Tomaszkiewicz also talked about how NPCs in the game have been designed and their roles. He mentioned that the characters will be memorable just like Ciri and Geralt. This is a bold claim but we will have to wait and see whether or not this is true. He also mentioned that while some of the mechanics of the game have been revealed in the demo and the trailer, there are some that have not been shown so far.

CDPR has confirmed that there is a big presentation planned for E3 2019 so we might be able to see more at the expo. Other than that, Tomaszkiewicz mentioned that the gunplay of the game is a blend of realistic and arcade. He mentioned that a version of the game could be developed for the Xbox Anaconda and PS5 but right now the developers are busy working on the version of the game for the current generation of consoles and PC.

He also mentioned that the team is not working on any DLC right now and is focusing on the base game. Stay tuned for more information and news regarding Cyberpunk 2077.
