Items Guide – Cyberpunk 2077

Our Cyberpunk 2077 Items Guide details everything that you need to know about items in Cyberpunk 2077.

Weapons

Starting with the weapons, there are multiple types of weapons in Cyberpunk 2077. These weapons are categorized according to their manufacturer and the technology that they use in the game. You will find the following types of weapons in the game:

  • Power Weapons – These weapons will allow you to control the trajectory of your fired weapons when you combine them with Ballistics Coprocessor and the Trajectory Generator mod for the Kiroshi Optics.
  • Tech Weapons – These weapons allow you to charge their shots and firing these charged shots will penetrate through cover and hit enemies through walls. Solid choice for fighting inside buildings.
  • Smart Weapons – These weapons are equipped with Smart Link that will allow you to lock onto targets and fire homing rounds which are great for picking out certain enemies and killing them before the bunch.

It is also worth mentioning here that all ammo between pistols, revolvers, shotguns, rifles, and sniper rifles is shared between all weapons of the same category. You also have plenty of accessories for these weapons to make them better such as scopes and silencers. Certain mods will also increase and decrease the stats of your weapons. Apart from the ranged weapons, you have two categories of melee weapons and both of them can be further modded as well:

  • Blades
  • Blunt Weapons

Clothing and Armor

In Cyberpunk 2077, you will be able to find and equip a large number of clothing and armor items. While clothing is just aesthetic and generic, its armor value actually protects you from harm. Each clothing gear comes with a default armor rating however you can increase the protection by equipping certain cyberware. For reference, 10 Armor will stop 1 DPS so depending on this reference number, you can increase or decrease this value using mods and cyberware. You can change your equipped gear in your inventory.

Combat Gadgets

Combat Gadgets are equipped in your Combat Gadget Quickslot and you will use these useful gadgets during combat for various reasons. You can equip grenades and different other cyberware in this slot and use them quickly in combat and other situations. Pressing R1 will quickly use the item in this slot however if you want a more controlled use of your equipped gadget, you can press and hold R1 to form a throwing arc and use that for reference. You can change the equipped gadget by pressing and holding the Triangle button and then heading to the Combat Gadget slot and picking whatever item you want to have it here.

Consumables

Your consumables also come with a dedicated slot and a quick-use button. By default, pressing ‘Up’ on the D-Pad will allow you to use whatever consumable you have stored in your quick use slot. You will have your healing items in this slot which will allow you to quickly heal yourself in combat and other tense situations. You can also assign these consumables to your inventory however you must remember that food regenerates health while drinks regenerate stamina.

Make sure that you have the right item in your quickslot for quick use. To change the item in your quickslot, simply press and hold Triangle and then go to the Consumable quickslot. Switch to whatever item that you want in this slot and select it. Now every time you need to use the item, simply press up on the d-pad and you will quickly use the selected consumable without having the need to open your inventory again and again. It is worth mentioning here that some items cannot be assigned to this quickslot such as boosters and you can only consume them from the inventory.

Crafting and Upgrading Your Items

Cyberpunk 2077 gives you the freedom to craft whatever you want if you have the resources for it and even upgrade the items that you already have instead of purchasing new ones. This can be done in the ‘Crafting’ tab of the pause menu. For crafting, you must have the item’s Crafting Spec and all of the resources mentioned in this spec. As you play the game, you will acquire these Crafting Specs from looting in the world, purchasing from vendors and even from levelling up your skills.

Each item in the game is given a rating and is color-coded for that rating. The rarer the item, the better it is but also demands more resources to craft and upgrade. While you can craft basic items which fall in the Uncommon and Common category right from the start of the game, you will need to purchase perks for higher level crafting. These are:

  • Rare Items – True Craftsman Perk
  • Epic Items – Grease Monkey Perk
  • Legendary Items – Edgerunner Artisan Perk

You will also note that most of the items that you craft in the game are actually better than the items found in the stores and the world so it is good that do most of your crafting yourself. However, for crafting better items, make sure that your Engineering Skill level is higher. The more skilled you are, the better items you will craft. Iconic items come with their Crafting Specs for all rarities of that item allowing you to craft their best variant.
