Darksiders: Genesis Announced As a Spinoff of the Darksiders Series

THQ Nordic has just announced a new Darksiders game that it says will take the series in a new and fresh direction. Darksiders: Genesis is a Diablo-style action RPG that is developed by Airship Syndicate, who is known for games like Battle Chasers: Nightmare.

Since the new adventure in the series will be similar to Diablo, it will be a top-down spin-off from the mainline Darksiders series. A teaser trailer was also released with the announcement, as we expect more details to come next week at E3 2019. Take a look at the teaser trailer below:

You will get to play the game as Strike, a Horseman of the Apocalypse fighting alongside War from the original Darksiders series. You have to gun demons that come wielding guns, blades and magic spells. However, the harvesting tool action in the game looks very similar to Diablo 3.

In Darksiders Genesis, the fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse STRIFE is called upon to save humankind from certain destruction at the hands of Lucifer. True to its roots, Darksiders Genesis will feature intense combat, exploration, puzzle-solving, epic boss battles and serpent holes from heaven to hell. The game marks the first, full-scale Darksiders adventure played from the top-down perspective.

The reveal trailer also gives out details on what platforms the game will be released in, and it is pretty much all the current modern consoles. Darksiders: Genesis will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and also Google Stadia.

A release date has not been confirmed as of yet, but we expect that to be announced very soon. However, at the time of writing, we have found an Amazon store listing for the game that suggests the game is will be releasing right at the very end of this year on December 31, 2019, and that it will cost $29.99.
