You must make certain progress in the main story of the game before you are able to unlock and use fast travel in Death Stranding.

Fast Travel Guide – Death Stranding

Our Death Stranding Fast Travel Guide details everything that you need to know about unlocking and using fast travel in Death Stranding.

How to Fast Travel in Death Travel

The first thing that you must do is play the main story of the game. Keep playing until you reach chapter 3 of the main story Fragile where you can finally unlock fast travel. Once you’ve met with Fragile, she will unlock the ability of fast travel by introducing the player to her ‘umbrella’. Once done, you can visit any of Fragile’s ‘umbrellas’ and use your new ability Fragile Jump to teleport to any of your hideouts.

However, you can only travel to hideouts that you have already visited at least once. You cannot fast travel to hideouts which have not been discovered yet or you still have to visit them once. Once you visit a hideout, it automatically becomes available in the fast travel menu. However, there’s a catch here. You cannot fast travel with your inventory. Yes, this is a big problem.

If you use fast travel to quickly teleport to any hideout, you will end up losing all of your inventory which makes it a pretty useless feature in certain situations. If you are carrying cargo or need to deliver something, you cannot use the fast travel option as you will end up losing your cargo. Your best alternative to cargo deliveries is vehicles however if you do not care about losing your inventory, you can use Fragile Jump to teleport to any hideout quickly.
