Devil May Cry 5 have been hoping that Vergil will be part of the upcoming game and it seems that he is. We recently got a glimpse of him in a leaked scene but now we have a better quality video and we can confirm that this is indeed Vergil.
In the new Devil May Cry 5 cutscene we can see a hooded stranger rip of Nero’s arm. This is something that we have already seen in the trailer but we get a closer look this time and see that Nero’s arm actually glows when the hooded person approaches and Nero asks “are you a demon?”.
The arm transforms into Yamato, Vergil’s sword which Nero absorbed into his arm back in DMC4. Before Vergil takes back the sword he says “I’m taking this back”, which is further proof that this is indeed Vergil. He seems to be in pretty bad shape as we can hear him breathe heavily and coughing. He also mentions that he is running out of time before he uses Yamato to open a portal and disappear.
This is not something new and we have seen Vergil use similar moves in previous games. We have also seen him in a similar cape in DMC4 SE if you have finished the game you can play the game as Vergil and he is wearing a similar hood and cape in the opening cinematic.
We know that Devil May Cry 5 takes place after DMC2 and DMC4 and it is possible that this is corrupt Vergil and that he needs his sword in order to regain his power. There is a lot that we do not know about the game but we do know that Dante will be going up against the Demon Prince Urizen, which could be Vergil as well. In the next scene, we see Dante, Lady and Trish enter into Urizen’s layer and Dante says, “guess I get to see it with my own eyes. If it really is you”. While there is no confirmation, it is possible that Dante is indeed talking about Vergil in this scene.
In another video that was spotted a few weeks back, we see V tell Nero that Urizen was the demon that ripped off his arm. V might not be telling the truth but if he is then that is confirmation that Vergil is Urizen. At the very end of the video, we hear Nero say “Yamato did this”. Unless someone else is able to control and harness the power of Yamato it is safe to say that Vergil will be a major part of Devil May Cry 5.
The new demo of the game is available on consoles. If you are interested in playing the game on PC then you should check out the new PC requirements that Capcom has recently updated. Itsuno has confirmed that it will take more than 15 hours to complete the game and that more characters can be added down the line depending on the demand.
Let us know what you think about Vergil being a part of Devil May Cry 5 and whether or not you think he is Urizen.
