Diablo II: Resurrected Announced for PC and Consoles with Cross-Saves

Blizzard has revealed Diablo II: Resurrected at BlizzConline 2021 after it was rumored earlier. Diablo II: Resurrected will release on PC and consoles with the game taking full advantage of the additional power of the new-gen consoles. It will feature HD graphics and 4K/60 FPS gameplay on PC and new consoles however for fans of the original title, the game will ship with a classic visuals filter which can be toggled on and off on the go like that featured in Halo Anniversary 1 and 2.

Apart from the visuals, Diablo II: Resurrected will also feature reworked audio and cinematics to match the visual overhaul of the game. Many quality-of-life changes will also be part of the title that will allow players to experience a more modern version of the classic RPG. These updates also include shared loot stash and cross-saves between all platforms allowing players to continue their adventure on any platform of their choice.

Blizzard has shared an official description with all the new features of the remaster that we have detailed below for you:

Diablo II: Resurrected is a remastered version of the quintessential action RPG Diablo II. Pursue the mysterious Dark Wanderer and fight the denizens of hell as you uncover the fate of the Prime Evils Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal, now in up to 4K (2160p) resolution on PC. Diablo II: Resurrected features include:

  • Remastered graphics—monsters, heroes, items, spells, all resurrected.
  • An epic story told through five distinct acts.
  • Classic gameplay—the same Diablo II you know and love, preserved.
  • Updated Battle.net support.
  • Planned support for cross-progression—take your progress wherever you play.
  • … and much more!

A confirmed release date is not announced at this point however it will release on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5 in 2021. Blizzard is also allowing players to try out the game early by signing up for the game’s technical alpha. You can sign up and if you get selected, you can try it out early and help Blizzard finalize the full release in its best form.
