Techland has confirmed that Dying Light 2 is not only going to release on the current generation of consoles but Xbox Scarlett and PS5 as well. The first game was one of the best zombie survival games in recent history and we expect nothing less from the upcoming game.
Dying Light 2 was supposed to release in 2019 but the game has been delayed. The developer is planning to release the game in early 2020. The Xbox Scarlett and PS5 will be around the corner so it does make sense to release the game on the upcoming consoles as well. Paweł Rohleder confirmed that the game will be coming to the next generation consoles in a recent interview where he mentioned the following:
Techland always has an eye on the latest new toys! To be more specific — yes, the plan since the beginning of production has been to make Dying Light 2 a cross-generation title.
Next-generation of consoles is very powerful and should run games at up to 8K. Dying Light 2 might not run at such a high resolution but 4K 60 FPS does seem reasonable. I am sure that console players will be interested in playing the game at the higher resolution. The game could be enhanced for the next generation consoles. We could get better graphics and textures.
The devs also talked about the target resolution for the current generation of consoles. Paweł Rohleder mentioned that the demo was running at 2.5K but the base consoles will run the game at 1080p. He did not talk about the higher-end models like the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X in detail. Here is what he had to say:
The demo you saw was running at 2.5K (2560×1440). For Xbox One X and PS4 Pro, we want to run at full HD (1920×1080). It’s too early to specify exclusive features for more powerful consoles, but our top priority is a smooth gameplay experience.
Let us know what you think about Dying Light 2 coming to Xbox Scarlett and PS5 and whether or not you are interested in playing the game when it comes out in early 2020.
