Elden Ring Margit the Fell Omen Boss Guide – How to Beat, Attack Types, Rewards

Elden Ring Margit the Fell Omen Boss Guide

Margit the Fell Omen is one of the trickiest bosses in Elden Ring, who presents the first true taste of challenge in the game. What makes this boss tough is the variety of attacks, long combos, and unpredictability with attack and movement, especially if you are new to the encounter. This Elden Ring Margit the Fell Omen Boss Guide will show you what you need to do in order to beat this boss, what attacks he will hit you with, and what rewards you get after completing the boss battle.

Elden Ring Margit the Fell Omen Boss Guide

Margit the Fell Omen can be found in Stormhill, where you will find him in between you and the entrance to Stormveil Castle, the Legacy Dungeon. The battle itself takes place on a narrow bridge right in front of the castle entrance, where you can fall to your death if you get too close to the edges on both sides. This adds to the challenge when facing a boss like Margit, who can be pretty relentless when up close.

Margit the Fell Omen will always begin with a few signature attacks, where the most common one will be the huge leap at your location to stab you with his staff, forcing you to dodge or back off. The other introductory attack is where he throws a couple of daggers at you, that can catch you off guard and hit you in quick succession.

However, the boss truly shows his color when you are close to it and in range for his handful of melee attacks that he loves to hit in combos. Although he comes wielding a tall staff that he uses to swing from his right hand, Margit can also spawn a glowing sword on his left or summon the quick dagger throws in between the main attacks. As the fight progresses, he will also produce a large hammer in place of the sword that it uses to swing at you when close or go for a big charged leaping attack if you are a little far.

Your strategy in this battle is to take your time and wait for the boss to complete his chained attacks or combos that are triggered when you are within striking distance yourself. When standing close to the boss, you might be tempted to steal a few hits, but this can quickly backfire if you run out of stamina, or get caught by the boss’s long-reaching staff.

Margit will be quite unpredictable when it goes for its charged attacks. The animation is quite slow, but the boss stops for a brief second and releases very quickly, making it tricky to read when he is going to release. In addition, if you decide to dodge behind the boss and place yourself perfectly for hits, he can use his tail to quickly swing around, hitting you in the process, and setting himself to begin his chained attacks.

The fight becomes significantly hard if you rely only on melee attacks to deal damage to the boss. This attacking strategy is not impossible, but requires patience and waiting for the boss to either stagger after your heavy attacks, or when it gets stuck for a few seconds after a charge leaping attack with his staff.

To make things easier, you can distract the boss by using Long Wolf Ashes which gives you a good opportunity to hit the boss with melee attacks or spells. Alternatively, you can also use Ash of War: Shield Barricade as it will allow you to block incoming attacks easily, and counter with your own melee attacks.

Beating Margit the Fell Omen will give you the Talisman Pouch and 8,000 Runes.
