Horse Guide – Ghost of Tsushima

Our Ghost of Tsushima Horse Guide details everything you need to know about horses in Ghost of Tsushima.

Which Horse to Choose in Ghost of Tsushima

When you start playing the game for the first time, you are given the choice of selecting your very first horse in the prologue. You are given three choices to choose from unless you purchased the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game where you will have a fourth bonus option as well.

Choosing Horse Colors

The very step in choosing your horse is choosing the color of the horse. The base game has three base colors to choose from which are Black, White, and Dapple. However, Digital Deluxe Edition players also get a fourth color choice which is the Brown Mane Warhorse. These are just visual skins and do not affect the performance of the horse in any way. You can pick whatever color that suits your style.

Choosing the Horse Name

After you’ve picked the color of the horse, your next step will be to choose the name of the horse. There are three names to choose from here. These are Nobu, Sora, and Kage. Each name has a different meaning as well. Nobu means Trust, Sora means Sky, and Kage means Shadow. Same as the color, choosing any fine is just fine. There are no differences in the game for any of the available options. Each name and color is just visual.

Using Your Horse

To call your horse, you can press left on the D-Pad and when it comes close to you, press R2 to climb it. Wherever you go in the game, you will have to use your horse to move around. It will be your companion throughout the game until the very end. You can change your horse after a certain progression in the game but since they are just visual differences so it does not make any sense to change your horse unless you are bored with the name and color.

Unlike RDR2 and much similar to The Witcher 3, your horse is invincible in the game. It can take a lot more punishment than you and still does not blink an eye. It will run away at the first sight of danger and enemies can also make you fall down from the horse so you need to keep in mind that only the horse is invincible and you riding it are not. Apart from your own horse, you can also ride wild horses or horses of your enemies in the game. You can still call your own horse even if you ride another horse.
