Stances Guide – Ghost of Tsushima
Our Ghost of Tsushima Stances Guide details everything that you need to know about stances in Ghost of Tsushima.
Understanding Stances in Ghost of Tsushima
In Ghost of Tsushima, combat stance is essentially your fighting style. Each stance comes with certain special moves that are not available in any other stance and thus stances allow you to fight with a combat style that is more suited to your playstyle. It is a good option to explore all of the stances in the game and practicing with them because sometimes you will be required to switch between stances on the go to adjust to the changing battle scenarios of the game. At one time, you can only equip and use one stance.
The game’s UI represents which stance is currently equipped on the bottom-right corner of the screen. Depending on your enemies, you will be required to quickly change your stance to one that is more effective against the enemy types. There are four unique types of stances in the game and all of them are unlocked via story progression. Keep playing the story of the game and as you continue to defeat the leaders, you will unlock the following four stances:
- Moon Stance – Powerful against Brutes
- Stone Stance – Powerful against Swordsmen
- Water Stance – Powerful against Shieldmen
- Wind Stance – Powerful against Spearmen
To switch your stance, simply press and hold R2 and press the key assigned by default to the desired stance. Choosing the right stance against the right type of enemy is important because it will allow you to break the defenses of your enemies much more easily. These stances do not come standard either. Each stance offers unique moves and abilities for you to further unlock with Technique Points. To check out what moves and abilities each stance has to offer, check out the Stance menu, and spend your Technique Points.
