Analytically, if you see Grand Theft Auto 5, the in-game world represents the part of real world. There is politics, there is money influence, there is race for who gets into the best infrastructure. Every single aspect of the game portrays the real world.
Dan Houser, co-founder of Rockstar Games, recently discussed the idea of making of next GTA or GTA 6. He discusses the idea of creating a Grand Theft Auto game based on current world political climate. He said it ‘ would be tricky to make GTA 6 in current political climate’.
Co-founder further said:
It’s really unclear what we would even do with it, let alone how upset people would get with whatever we did … Both intense liberal progression and intense conservatism are both very militant, and very angry. It is scary but it’s also strange, and yet both of them seem occasionally to veer towards the absurd. It’s hard to satirise for those reasons. Some of the stuff you see is straightforwardly beyond satire. It would be out of date within two minutes, everything is changing so fast
The success of GTA 5 takes its root from the presentation of its in-game world to the real world. Dan Houser is finding it hard that the quick changing political climate throughout the world and in US will make the creation of GTA 6 a tricky business. He solely relies that what if we work on a game whose foundation is on today, and after couple of years of work, the political scenario shits completely and the game just feels odd and out of taste.
Rockstar takes the game or world setting in their games very seriously. Even if you look at Red Dead Redemption 2. the game is set in the age of outlaws, gangs and the law-less wild west. Where, law enforcement agencies started to pick up the pace and started wiping out outlaws and gangs. That scenario was once a reality, it was once a part of US.
Rockstar is keeping the head in the game. The next GTA could come out late instead of a 5 year time lapse that almost every GTA game takes to release. What you think about the statement Dan Houser gave? Let us know more your thoughts in comments section below.
