During last night’s Ubisoft Forward, Ubisoft has officially revealed the new Far Cry 6 which features a brand new setting and story set on the Yara Island. The game is slated for release on February 18, 2021, on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and PC via Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Store, and Google Stadia along with Uplay+. Uplay+ is Ubisoft’s premium online video game subscription service.
Far Cry 6 features performances from the renowned actor and Emmy Award Nominee Giancarlo Esposito from Better Call Saul, the Boys, and The Mandalorian, alongside Anthony Gonzalez from Coco. The game’s score has been created by film and television composer Pedro Bromfman (Narcos) while the opening sequence has been directed by Emmy Award winner Patrick Clair (Westworld, True Detective). Far Cry 6 brings in Hollywood-caliber talent to the video game to bolster the narrative experience.
Far Cry 6 has been developed by Ubisoft Toronto and it plunges you into the heart of a modern-day guerilla revolution set in Yara. Yara is a tropical paradise frozen in time run by President Anton Castillo (Esposito). Anton vows to restore his country to its former glory while grooming his son Diego (Gonzalez) to follow his footsteps. This however comes at a price and building the perfect country leads to paying some prices which includes subjugating those who don’t adhere to the president’s vision. You will get to experience the adrenaline and chaos of guerilla combat as you are swept up in a revolutionary movement to take down a tyrant.
Navid Khavari, Narrative Director, Ubisoft Toronto said:
Powerful and complex antagonists are part of Far Cry’s DNA, so right from the beginning we knew we had to raise the bar for who these characters could be and how they would come to life. Working with such an amazing roster of talent, including the one and only Giancarlo Esposito, and seeing how they embody our antagonists as terrifying but also deeply complex human characters has been an unbelievable experience that I can’t wait to share with our fans.
