Hideo Kojima Reveals a Big Project Recently Cancelled, Talks About a New Game

Hideo Kojima Project Cancelled

In a recent interview to a Japanese outlet, Livedoor, Hideo Kojima has revealed how a major project has been cancelled recently, and also stating that he is working on a completely new game which is in its early planning stages.

Kojima, who says he was pretty upset about the cancellation, but also doesn’t dive into many details about the cancelled project, which means that it will remain a mystery. What is interesting is that the Death Stranding creator has mentioned that a new game is in the works, even though it is quite in the early stages currently.

It’s still in the early planning stages so I can’t say much, but on the down-low I’m actively working on it. Recently a major project of mine got cancelled so I’m pretty pissed, but that’s the games industry for you.

The latest game by Hideo Kojima was the highly anticipated first title from the studio, Death Stranding, which was received with mixed reviews last year. Talking about the sales of the game, Kojima assured that there was no problem for the funding of the new project.

We’ve absolutely crossed the line we needed to cross to be in the black, including recovering development costs, so I’d call it a successful result. We still have the PC release coming up, and we’ve secured enough to begin preparing for our next project, so there’s no need to worry.

Last year, Kojima revealed that he wants to make a new game after Death Stranding which would be the ‘scariest horror game.’ Whether or not the cancelled project is related to the horror game he might have been working from last November is a question that arises.

We hope to get more information from Kojima himself, but since the new project is still in the planning phases, we doubt if we would be getting anytime soon.
