Ubisoft Steps into the Battle Royale World with Hyper Space

Hyper Space

Ubisoft has just announced its own battle royale game and it is called Hyper Space. The game will be free-to-play when it launches and it is a first-person shooter. The game is only available on PC right now as a limited-time closed technical test that will run till Tuesday, July 7.

The game is set in the distant future of 2054, where 100 other players will drop into the virtual city of Neo-Arcadia to engage in action-packed, fast-paced matches to be crowned as champions.

Ubisoft also described a little bit about the game, which is said to be an intense, vertical, and fast-paced battle royale experience. The game will have you in a three-player squad or solo where you can dive into the futuristic virtual city of Neo-Arcadia to engage in dynamic firefights, quickly transitioning from narrow to open rooftops and deadly interiors.

The game introduces Hacks, which are abilities that you can use to loot in the world, the same way you can loot weapons. Hacks offer offensive and defensive capabilities that will suit all playstyles. These include placing mines that can catch unaware opponents, seeking an enemy, protecting the squad with a big wall, or turning invisible to sneak and flank opponents. All Hacks and weapons can be upgraded through the Fusion mechanic to produce more powerful iterations of the pre-existing item.

Additional features in Hyper Space include the Decay, which dissolves the map into different patterns, and the Echo mechanic that allows players active in the battle even if they are knocked down. There are two ways to win the game, where you can be the last man standing, or you can grab the crown and hold it for at least 45 seconds to end the match.

Graeme Jennings, Senior Producer of Hyper Space had this to say about the game,

We’ve built something really unique and fresh by streamlining the experience to focus on fun and intensity. We’re really excited to let players have a try at it right away and we can’t wait to hear what they think of it. But this is just the start. Hyper Scape is a universe that is built to grow, and our players will see the beginnings of that even during our technical test
