Nintendo has announced a new cardboard VR headset for Nintendo Switch which is based on the Labo building concept. The VR headset is called Nintendo Labo: VR Kit and it is coming out in two different variants.
Nintendo Labo: VR Kit will come as a full version and a smaller Starter Kit. The full version will cost $80 and will include software, goggles and five cardboard designs. The smaller Starter Kit costs $40 and will include goggles and one of the designs with it. Check out the both kits below.
Full Version:
Starter Kit:
All accessories of the full version will be available later as separate purchases and players will be able to purchase them later on if they plan on getting the Starter Pack. The expansion packs each will cost $20 and will add Camera & Elephant or Bird & Wind Petal to the kit. However, players must keep it mind that this is just a virtual reality set for the Labo and not a proper VR wearable set.
This does not let you play games in VR. It can be considered as another toy for the Labo collection just like previous kits for the Labo. Players will view the Nintendo Switch’s screen with the Toy-Con VR goggles pressed up against it which according to us does not feel very immersive.
The main purpose of going for a device to hold up to the face is to make sure that it remains a more social experience for everyone using it. With traditional VR headsets that players wear on their head, the player is completely cut off from their environment and is not a very social option if you have more than 1 kid.
Nintendo Labo: VR Kit is launching April 12, 2019. Let us know in the comments below whether this is something that you will be interested in buying.
