Publisher Iceberg Interactive and developer Game Source Studio have revealed the gameplay of their upcoming deck-building strategy game Mahokenshi. Mahokenshi is an upcoming Japanese-inspired deck-building strategy game and it received a 1-hour long developer interview that showcased the game’s gameplay and also revealed a lot of other details about the game at PAX West 2022.
The details were revealed by Game Source Studio developer David Cicurel and you can check out the complete interview below:
Announced back in June, Mahokenshi is a new type of strategy deck-building game where you begin your journey by selecting a Samurai House. Mahokenshi offers four different Samurai Houses, each with its own elemental spirit and playstyle. Choosing your starting house allows you to draw power from your particular elemental spirit and then use it to defend your floating Celestial Islands from opponents who are seeking to corrupt them.
Mahokenshi boasts over 200 illustrated cards for you to discover and choose from. Each of these cards is inspired by the Japanese culture and the ways of the Mahoken. You may begin the game with a basic deck however you quickly start collecting better cards which leads to you owning one of the best decks in the game. You will need the best cards in your deck if you want to defeat all of the demons. Apart from their own powers, your surroundings will play a vital role in combat as well. Certain positions will give you an advantage while using certain cards so you can use this to your advantage in the game.
Mahokenshi is slated for release in January 2023 however a Steam page is now live for the game, and you can add it to your wishlist if the game strikes your fancy. Additional details about the game will be revealed in the coming months leading to the game’s release.
