Marvel's Spider-Man Breaks Previous Records, Sold 3.3 Million Units in 3 Days

Marvel’s Spider-Man released on September 7, 2018 exclusively on PlayStation 4 system. Within three days, the game sold a total of 3.3 million units, breaking the record of highest number of units sold post-launch. Marvel’s Spider-Man dethroned God of War sales: which also launched this year and made record of quick sales post-launch.

According to Sony, one million copies of the game were pre-ordered while rest of the figures counts the sales between September 7 to September 9.

Also, the 3.3 million number does not take into account the sale of PlayStation 4 Pro bundle featuring Spider-Man game, Dual Shock 4 and Red color PS4. That figure is not counted in the 3.3 million units equation.

Previously, we mentioned that Marvel’s Spider Man has become the fastest selling game of the year so far in the UK. The old records set this year by other gaming titles have been stripped off by Sony’s Exclusive game. These UK Charts do not count the digital copies of the game instead they count only the physical boxed units.

The previous record holders, Far Cry 5 and God of War have all been toppled by Marvel’s Spider-Man. Moreover, Far Cry 5 came out on other platforms including the PC and Xbox One which is why the sales numbers were high in the UK.

Additionally, it has also become the fastest selling Marvel game, beating Lego Marvel Super Heroes by a big number. However, the game didn’t quite beat Batman: Arkham Knight. But again, in its defense, Batman was released on multiple platforms while Marvel’s Spider-Man is Sony exclusive
