Metro Exodus’ Move to Epic Games Store Is “Unfair” Says Steam

Epic Games Store Review System

Metro Exodus was recently pulled from the Steam store and will be available for PC gamers through the Epic Games Store. This kind of happened overnight and it seems that Steam is not particularly happy with what happened. I am sure that fans that pre-ordered the game aren’t pleased either.

This seems to be a power move and it should be noted that this is not the only game that will not be available on Steam. The Division 2 is also available through the Epic Games Store even though the previous game was available on Steam. Then again, this is Ubisoft that we are talking about. The previous game was optimized for Nvidia hardware but The Division 2 is optimized for AMD hardware. The following is what Steam had to say about the issue:

We think the decision to remove the game is unfair to Steam customers, especially after a long pre-sale period. We apologize to Steam customers that were expecting it to be available for sale through the February 15th release date, but we were only recently informed of the decision and given limited time to let everyone know.

Epic Games Store is trying to take on Steam and while The Division 2 might have been seen as fair play, Metro Exodus being pulled from Steam will surely be seen as war. Steam has been in the business for a long time and many players have tried to go against it and have failed. It will be interesting to see what Epic Games Store is able to do against the giant.

The Epic Games Store is trying to have similar policies to Steam and announced that players can get a refund of games int he first 14 days of purchase for whatever reason. Regional pricing is not an option yet but the team is working on it as we speak.

Let us know what you think about Metro Exodus being pulled from Steam and whether or not you think this is unfair.
