A new character has been revealed to be coming in the roster of Mortal Kombat 11. Cetrion was revealed yesterday by NetherRealm Studios as they continue to reveal new characters in the lead to the launch of the game.
Last week at Sony’s State of Play event, the company announced three returning characters in the series. The returning characters are Liu Kang, Kung Lao and Jax. Meanwhile a new female character called Cetrion was briefly shown in a reveal trailer that featured her combat, fight moves and fatality.
Take a look at the trailer below:
Cetrion is a new fighter in the series that is an Elder Goddess. She has a special connection with the Earth, unleashing rock, plant and elemental-based attacks. She does not look fast or agile, but that is because of her ranged attacks that makes it unnecessary.
The trailer shows her summoning vines from the ground to restraint the enemy, while throwing rocks to pummel the enemies with. The trailer ends by showing one of Cetrion’s Fatalities, where she crushes the enemy in giant boulder, grows into god size and rains down a beam of energy on the enemy to pulverize them.
Cetrion is an entirely new playable character in the series, along with Geras, who is the loyal servant of Mortal Kombat 11’s boss Kronika. As like Cetrion, Geras also has elemental powers which allow him to conjure objects made of sand, such as a bed of spikes that he can slam the enemy onto.
Cetrion joins the other 20 confirmed fighters in the game that include Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Jax, Noob Saibot, Kotal Kahn, Jacqui Briggs, Cassie Cage, Erron Black, Scorpion, Raiden, Sub-Zero, Sonya Blade, Skarlet, Baraka, Kano, Kabal, D’Vorah, Jade, Johnny Cage, new character Geras, and DLC fighter, Shang Tsung.
Prior to the addition of Cetrion, who is not the only female character announced, the game’s art director Steve Beran talked about wanting to design the female characters to look more mature and respectful.
Mortal Kombat is set to release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC on 23 April, 2019. What do you think of Cetrion and her combat style in Mortal Kombat 11? Let us know in the comments below.
