NetherRealm has revealed that Mortal Kombat 11 is going to get long term support and the title will get ‘pretty awesome’ features post-launch. This was revealed by Shaun Himmerick who is the studio head of NetherRealm Studios.
Shaun was speaking with The Official Xbox Magazine and in an exclusive interview for the April 2019 issue of the magazine, he revealed the studio’s post-launch plans. Although no specific information has been announced at this point, we can be sure that Mortal Kombat 11 will receive DLC after the game has been released.
His official words in the interview were
I sometimes forget everything we’ve already announced, but I know I can say this. Yes, because we plan to keep adding to the game and supporting the game well after launch. The features planned to be added to the game even in the first couple months are pretty awesome. There is more coming.
In the same interview, Shaun also hinted that Mortal Kombat 11 will also come with a Krypt which is a really cool feature for Mortal Kombat franchise. However, he added that the new Krypt mode will be a nice surprise for the players.
Yes, there will be a Krypt. You can expect it to be fun. I don’t want to oversell it, for sure, but I think it’ll be a nice surprise to the players when they see the direction the Krypt has taken in this game.
It seems like the Krypt mode has been overhauled and it will be something new for the franchise. No further details were revealed regarding Krypt as well. Looks like we get to know more in due time when the studio announced them officially.
In the meantime, check out the reveal trailer for Cassie Cage, Johnny Cage, Jade, Kabal, D’Vorah and everything else that we know about Mortal Kombat at this point. We also got to know earlier that John Cena might be coming to Mortal Kombat 11 as Stryker.
Mortal Kombat 11 is slated for release on April 23, 2019 on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
