MyCareer Guide – NBA 2K20

Our NBA 2K20 MyCareer Guide details everything that you need to know about starting and playing MyCareer mode in NBA 2K20.

Get Your Own Face in the Game

NBA 2K20 allows you to have your own face as your player’s face in NBA 2K20. As soon as you enter the MyCareer mode, the game will ask you if you want to import your own face into the game. You will need a smartphone for this which has the MyNBA 2K20 app on it. Download the app and follow the remaining steps the game asks you to do which included completing the tutorial and you will be able to import your own face into the game.

Take the Prelude Seriously

At the start of MyCareer mode, you will be placed in different tutorial scenarios in the Prelude. These scenarios are crucial for your success because they affect your chances of getting drafted in the first round. Play through the prelude and complete all training sessions as best as you can. Your final success factor depends on your performance throughout these training sessions.

Depending on your performance in these training sessions, your overall stock will increase or decrease. You want to ensure that your stock is high enough at the end of the Prelude for teams to take you seriously. Next, you must draft combine and tryouts to raise your stock as well. It is vital that you perform as good as possible in these because they will raise your chances of getting drafted at the end of the prelude as well.

If your stock is high enough once you reach the end of the prelude, you will be easily drafted in the first round. The better you perform in the prelude, the higher your stock will be at the end and more chances of you getting draft in the first round. You can monitor your personal stats, your in-game currency, drafting position and stock at all times in the game.

Explore the Neighborhood

The neighborhood is not a new feature in NBA 2K20 and fans who have been playing the franchise would know about it. However, this time around, you cannot access this right from the start of the game. You must first unlock your access to the Neighborhood. To do so, all you need to do is play through the prelude and get drafted into a team. Once you join a team after the prelude, you will be given access to the Neighborhood.

The neighborhood is a lively place where you can go and visit different places that offer your services or just good times. You can get a haircut, get some new clothes and shoes and meet with other people. You can also train and practice in MyCourt which can also be customized further according to your own taste. It offers an excellent diversion from the mainstream grind of MyCareer mode.

Always Upgrade Your Player

Your player starts with a basic set of stats when you start the MyCareer mode. However, you can always upgrade these stats to make the player better. From the main menu, you can access the Attributes menu where you will be shown the current stats of your player. Naturally, not all of them will be at the same level. This is where it gets interesting. To upgrade, you need VC and VC is not easy to get.

You can play the game and win matches to get some VC or you can dish out some real-world money to get you some quick VC. Since VC is not easy to obtain, you will need to focus on your build type and focus on attributes that you really want your player to get better at. This will allow you to have the perfect player according to your own playstyle. If you prefer shooting, you can start with upgrading shooting skill or similarly if the defense is your game, start with that.

There are 19 unique attributes here that you can play around with. As you continue to upgrade different attributes, five main stats which are Speed, Acceleration, Strength, Vertical and Stamina will increase and decrease below to give you an overview of your changes to your character. You can also unlock badges to instantly boost a certain attribute of your player.

Create Your Own Custom Teams

You can also create your very own custom team in MyCareer mode of NBA 2K20. You can even set custom made uniforms, arenas and more for them. To start with, simply choose the option MyGm/MyLEAGUE in the menu. You can then pick from League Expansion which will allow you to add six additional teams alongside the current roster or you can choose the Custom League in which you can edit and change everything in the current teams.

After you have decided what you want to do, your next step is to choose a city for your team. This will be their default city for the game and then you can move forward towards choosing a logo for your team. If you want to upload a custom logo for your team, head to this site and submit the logo which will be imported in the game and you can then set it as your default logo.

Next is your team’s arena. You have plenty of options here as well so go crazy with them. Show your best aesthetic side in your arena and then move to your team’s uniform. The detailed customizer will allow you to create the best uniform for your team. Although make sure that your logo, arena, and uniform have the same theme to make the overall look more consistent. Once you are done, save it all up and your brand new team is ready for action.
