Nintendo Switch Lite Is Equipped with a Smaller Battery, Improved Processor

Nintendo Switch Update 120

With Nintendo Switch Lite’s release date inching closer and closer, we are getting new information about the incoming console every day ranging from technical specifications and hardware information. Just recently, pictures of Nintendo Switch Lite and the new version of Nintendo Switch have appeared at the FCC and they a breakdown of everything that is found in both these new consoles detailing specs such as the battery and the processor.

When Nintendo revealed Switch Lite, it said that the console will offer a better battery time than the regular version of the Switch. The new version of Switch is also promising a much more increased battery time than the current version of Switch. What makes is interesting is that the battery in the newer consoles is smaller rather than being bigger to give out better times. This would not have made sense in normal words.

However, this is very much possible that Nintendo is getting increased battery times with a smaller battery because of the brand new processor present in the new consoles. The improved Nintendo Switch comes with the same 16Wh battery as that of the regular Switch and the only difference here is the more power-efficient processor. The Lite, on the other hand, comes with a 13.6 Wh battery along with the new processor allowing it to use less power and hence get a longer running time on a single charge.

Switch Lite also has a smaller screen and there is no Joy-Con charging so the console, on the whole, requires less battery juice to run thus saving a lot more than a regular one. The chip layout is also more efficient as claimed by Nintendo. Nintendo Switch has suffered from numerous issues with its design such as the Joy-Con drift however battery issues were the biggest because Switch is targeted at the portable market.

With the new batteries in place and the more power-efficient processors taking over the control of the consoles, we can expect that the battery times will certainly increase and allow gamers to play their favorite games more while they are on the go. Nintendo Switch Lite is releasing next month on September 20, 2019.
