To research animals, select a type of animal in zoopedia and then use your Vets to research the type of animal you are looking to breed. Following that, you can then go to the Research Status in zoopedia and then look at all the factors that are affecting animal happiness in the habitat.
It is absolutely important that you make your animals happy by fixing all the issues they might be having. It is only then that your animals might start breeding. But first, you might need to look at other factors that might affect breeding.
Check Animal Population

The last thing that you can look into before breeding is to compare mates and check the fertility rate of the type of animals, both male and females. If the fertility rate is down, you obviously will not have the best result in producing an offspring.
