Below we have detailed how you can start breeding your animals, and what things you need to look for before starting to breed the types of animals you want.

Keep Animals Happy

The first factor that can hinder your animal breeding is if your animals are happy in their habitats.  Animal happiness can be affected by a number of factors, where you might not have the habitat to their liking. Or your habitat might be a little small for your animals causing some sort of stress on them.

To make things easier, you can research the type of animal and look for things that might be missing in the habitat. With this method, you can find out all the ways to improve living conditions for your animals, and also highlight items you might need to ensure that the animals are happy.

To research animals, select a type of animal in zoopedia and then use your Vets to research the type of animal you are looking to breed. Following that, you can then go to the Research Status in zoopedia and then look at all the factors that are affecting animal happiness in the habitat.

It is absolutely important that you make your animals happy by fixing all the issues they might be having. It is only then that your animals might start breeding. But first, you might need to look at other factors that might affect breeding.

Check Animal Population

Breeding can also be affected by the population of an animal type. You might have an unbalanced amount of females or males that can affect your breeding. To counter this, you have to check the social status on the Species Data tab in zoopedia.

The social will tell you what the recommended ratio of male to female should be in a habitat. Make sure that you have the correct amount of males to females. Females are usually more than males, with some bird species having a ratio of 1:4. It is always best to look at the social and then have the correct number of animals so that they can start breeding in their habitats.

Species Data will also tell you about the maturity age of the animal. Animals that are still too young will not breed, and you might have overlooked this reason that may have prevented your animals to breed.

Compare Mates

The last thing that you can look into before breeding is to compare mates and check the fertility rate of the type of animals, both male and females. If the fertility rate is down, you obviously will not have the best result in producing an offspring.

If you consider all these factors and rectify all the problems that may be preventing your animals to breed, you will have a clear road to producing more animals in a habitat. If everything is done correctly, you will find that the animal females will get pregnant over time and produce the offspring, and increase their numbers in the habitat.
