PUBG or Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds first released on PC and got a lot of traction in the West and later the hype came to the easy as well. When PUBG Mobile was released it was accessible to people that did not have the demanding specifications needed to play the game and anyone with a smartphone could play it. PUBG Mobile quickly became trending in not only the Western world but the Eastern side as well.
In a recent Islamic Fatwa, a cleric in Pakistan declared that playing PUBG Mobile is haraam or forbidden in Islam. In a video, he explained why he has said so. He claims that PUBG mobile reenacts the events of Almalhamadal Kubra. He explained that Muslims are being taught to do unrighteous things such as killing people village by village.
The cleric mentioned that Jews have made this game in order to deviate Muslims from the path of God. The reality of the matter is the game has been developed and launched by the Chinese. He further went on to explain that children that play the game do not listen to their parents and often neglect their prayers as well. Children have become so absorbed into the game that they get annoyed if someone stops them from playing it.
This does seem like a valid point but you cannot put a haraam label on something just because it is addictive. There are people that play the game and do their job and offer their prayers as well. The cleric also mentioned that PUBG Mobile creates hate against other races, which is not something that I agree with.
Since this announcement was made some people have left the game and have quit playing while others have actually started playing more PUBG Mobile. That is how the world works.
If people do take this to heart then the same can be said about Fortnite. Apex Legends is also a new battle royale game that has reached more than 25 million players around the world. If that comes to mobile then it could be declared haraam as well.
