In the game, there are four different types of locked doors:

- Diamond Door
- Club Door
The keys that you need can change depending on the character you are playing as. Clair can find the Heart Key for the Heart door, while Leon can find the Club key for the Club Door.
Resident Evil 2 Remake Unlock Doors Guide
Below we will show you how you can unlock all the four doors with their respective keys, and what new route they unlock for you.
Spade Door
The Spade door is probably the first door you will come across that you will have to unlock. This door is on the west side of the Main Hall in the Police Station. Unlocking the door will lead you to the West Office, where you can access Leon’s Desk, while also providing you a way between the Main Hall and to the west side of the building.
The Spade Key that is needed for the Spade door can be naturally found by progressing in the game. if you still haven’t found it, head to the East Corridor and go through the gate that says “Keep Out”.
Once you come back to the main hall from the East Corridor, you should now use your combat knife to open up the Reception shutter that will be to the west of the hall. Next you need to go through the Reception, around the corridor on the other side to go through the Operations Room window.
Once you find yourself right in the middle of the Safety Deposit Room and the West Office, you need to head north towards a Dark Room. Inside this room will be stairs that you need to take to go up. Climb all the way to “3F” where you will find a desk and a lamp. Placed on the desk will be the Spade Key.
Heart Door
The key to the Heart Door can only be taken by Claire. The key can be found in the Chief’s Office once you are in the Police Station basement section. From the office, head south into a new room that says “Private Collection Room.”
In the room, you can find a framed picture on a table next to an owl statue. Examine the picture, where you can find the Heart Key attached on the back. With the key in hand, you can pretty much roam freely anywhere in the station.
Diamond Door
You can find a number of Diamond Doors in the Police Station. The way to get the Diamond Key involves you to find all three medallions and to go through the Goddess Statue.
Once in the Parking Garage and after the cutscene, you will need to go to the Firing Range and Kennel of the Police Station. On the other side of the Kennel will be a morgue where you need to pull out the second gurney from the left on the north side of the room. Finally, on the body you will find the Diamond Key.
Club Door
The Club Door and it’s key can only be accessed by Leon. The Club Key can be found in the Boiler Room that is to the north of the Police Station. Unlocking the door will give Leon his Magnum weapon which is vital for the story of the game.
To reach the Boiler Room, you need to use the crank handle in the 2F east corridor to get to the area with the Chief’s Office. Next go up the stairs next to the office and through the balcony.
From the balcony, you will find a ladder to climb down the roof, where you need to go north down the stairs to the back alleyway. There you will find the Boiler Room, with some zombies that come from the within the room. Kill the zombies, and head inside the room to the back to find the Club Key attached to a whiteboard.

What doors do the keys unlock? And what floors or areas?
Hi Adrian.
The keys in the game are specific to their doors. For Example, the Heart Door can only be unlocked by the Heart Key. Similarly, the Spade Key unlocks the Spade Door.
As for the second part of your question. The Spade Key is Leon exclusive and grants you access to the West Office in the Main Hall, while the Club Key (also Leon exclusive) is needed for him to get his Magnum weapon. The Heart Key is Claire exclusive that allows you access to the whole Police Station. And lastly, there are quite a few Diamond Doors in the Police Station that can only be unlocked with the Diamond Key.
