Publisher Private Division and developer Roll7 announced their brand-new title Rollerdrome during the latest PlayStation State of Play and it combines two interesting mechanics together. One, it involves you roller-skating at insane speeds, second, it wants to shoot other people in the ring while you are zooming past them. The game will feature fluid movements and stylish tricking mechanics that are combined with shooter action.
Rollerdrome is set in a darkly dystopian retrofuture, and it introduces a distinct retro-futuristic universe with a unique identity. The game comes to life thanks to a comic book-inspired art style coupled with an all-new and original soundtrack. Taking the reigns on the soundtrack is the Darksynth musical artist Electric Dragon who seems to be merging the iconic 1970s textures and sounds with modern-day driving beats and cutting-edge production to provide a heart-thumping backdrop to all the stylish carnage.
Rollerdrome is set in the year 2030 where the public is kept distracted from an increasingly sinister political situation by the violence and excess of a brutal new arena sport: Rollerdrome. This bloodsport has a very thin line between reality and performance as the participants are chosen to compete in a series of gauntlets against the deadly House Players. Competitors in this sport try to take the lead with the highest score by combining eliminations with flashy tricks while also completing various challenges unique to each round.
You step into the world of Rollerdrome in the shoes of Kara Hassan, who is just joining this bloody sport. You must stay focused on your goal to climb the ranks and become the next Rollerdrome champion as the mysteries of a wicked tech giant unfold behind the scenes. Paul Rabbitte, Creative Director at Roll7 says:
