Rumor Suggests EA Working on Frostbite Engine Support For Nintendo Switch

EA Frostbite Nintendo Switch

A latest rumor suggests that EA is currently working on developing its Frostbite engine for Nintendo Switch.

Ever since its launch, Nintendo Switch has been a huge success in the video game industry. Despite lacking in power and features when compared to its competitors PS4 and Xbox One, Switch has proved that you do not need beefed up hardware and flashy technology bits to succeed even today.

Due to its huge popularity, a lot of AAA developers are now turning their attention towards Nintendo’s flagship console because it is a huge potential market as Switch has beaten its competition in sales ever since its launch. Its popularity is still growing and considering the fact that Nintendo is planning to introduce a better Switch variant in 2019, this year might be even more promising for the console.

The latest rumor surfacing about another AAA developer making its way to Nintendo Switch is EA and it is developing Frostbite support for Nintendo Switch. This is just a rumor at this point but if it is true, this would mean big things for Nintendo Switch and EA fans. Some EA games are already present on Nintendo Switch such as FIFA but they are not running Frostbite engine.

FIFA 19 is running on Frostbite engine on every console except Nintendo Switch where it is running on a custom engine made specifically for Nintendo Switch. Frostbite coming to Nintendo Switch will mean that every EA title will be playable on the console be that Anthem or Battlefield V.

The latest rumor has been revealed by NintendoSoup. They state that a Youtube Doctre81 has made an interesting discovery on EA Software Engineer’s LinkedIn page. His page states that he has been working on bringing already developed SDKs to Nintendo Switch. The engine ‘Frostbite’ is not mentioned in the reveal but the SDKs include those which have been used in Anthem and Battlefield V.

Check out the snip below of his profile.

This means that if EA is really planning to bring all their future titles and some already released ones to Nintendo Switch, they will run in their original Frostbite engine instead of special custom made engines. At this point, there is no official confirmation on this but we would love if EA really brings their trademark engine to Nintendo Switch as it will reduce the game differences across all their multi-platform titles.

Since Nintendo is also planning to release an improved version of Nintendo Switch in 2019, this could be really set it ahead from its competition. Since the profile in question lists that the engineer has already worked on these kits, it means that development is already complete for some games or at least is in under process.

At this point, no further information is available on the new Nintendo Switch variant launching in 2019 and EA’s development of Frostbite for Nintendo Switch. We will certainly keep a lookout for any more information on this in the future and update you guys.

For the time being, tell us what you think about the possibility of Frostbite coming to Nintendo Switch and all future titles to the console with it.
