Rune Factory 5 Monster Catching Guide
Monsters in Rune Factory 5 are not going to be your friend right from the get-go, especially considering that you intend to catch them. This requires you to prepare yourself before you target a monster a seek a type of monster you want on your farm.
The most important is the monster barn, which can only be obtained once you have reached a certain point in the story where you get to meet the first Farm Dragon and complete the quests that follow. In one of these objectives, you will learn how to make a monster barn. At this point, you have to continue the story until you get the Seed seal of your own.
The Seed seal is an important item that lets you catch monsters. In addition to learning how to make a monster barn and getting the Seed seal, you now have to get Fodder Seeds. These are important for the monsters that will live in the monster barn, while more will be required when you want to task them with some work. Fodder Seeds are pretty cheap to buy where you can then plant them on the farm dragon.
How to Catch and Tame Monsters
Catching monsters in Rune Factory 5 requires you to battle and weaken them enough for you to capture them. This means that you need to be careful by not depleting their health completely that they die off, but enough to make them weak allowing you to catch them.
Once you have weakened a monster you want to catch, use to seal to throw at the monster. If your monster is not weak enough, the capture will fail, where you need to repeat the process of weakening and throwing the seal.
Catching monsters is just half work done, as they require you to tame captured monsters to make them friendly towards you and for them to work on your farm. This can be done by increasing the friendship level with a monster by giving them items, increasing the level as high as you can. Depending on the level of a monster, you might get lucky by handing off basic items, however, higher-level monsters will require special items that they like, while you will also have to look out for items that they dislike.
Once your friendship level with the monster is high enough, you can choose a name for them and send the to your monster barn.
