Rare has detailed the upcoming Sea of Thieves Anniversary Update and it appears to be full of booty for all the pirates out there. Anniversary Update is arriving after one year of Sea of Thieves release and it is one the biggest updates the game has received to date. The developer released four expansion packs in the past for the game but nothing compares to the upcoming Anniversary Update for Sea of Thieves.
Sea of Thieves Anniversary Update will bring with it The Arena Expansion, modular ship damage, harpoons, cooking, hunting, fishing, two brand new factions and new quest campaigns for all players. This will make this the biggest update for the title to date as it will add major new content to the title as well as introduce some fixes that will reach down to the core of the game.
The main feature highlighting the Anniversary Update is the new Arena mode. It is a brand new competitive mode which will allow players to take part in massive ship battles along with their crew with other pirates from around the world. This mode will work alongside the adventure experience of the title.
A new storyline is also coming in the new update called Tall Tales – Shores of Gold which will allow players to further dig down deep in the lore of the pirate paradise. New campaign missions will be available as part of the new storyline and players will get to meet old and new characters on a brand new adventure.
The new adventure will take players to undiscovered places and reveal new surprising gameplay features as well. More details will be revealed on the new storyline later. A new trading company will also be added called The Hunter’s Call which will accept all sorts of fishing and hunting prizes and food.
Players will be able to fish and hunt animals and monsters to collect their meat. They can sell them for prizes or cook them as food. The Hunter’s Call will offer players gold and cosmetic rewards every time they exchange food and trophies with them. New hunting and fishing gear will be available to purchase to all pirates.
Along with these updates, major upgrades to ship damage will also be introduced in the new update. Ships will now have broken masts, capstan or wheels furthering detailing the damage they can take in battles. Increased damage detail means battles will be more vicious so players will need more strategy and wits to survive in battles after the update.
The Anniversary Update is arriving on April 30, 2019. Sea of Thieves is now out on Xbox One and Microsoft Windows.
