3D Retro Racer Slipstream Launches on Consoles

Slipstream Consoles Launch

Indie publisher BlitWorks launches the 3D retro racer Slipstream on consoles. The game is available to purchase on the Xbox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, priced at $9.99.

The console release date was announced last month in March 2022, with game features including 4-player split-screen multiplayer and added a mix of modern mechanics and accessibility options.

Watch the trailer below:

Slipstream brings the sprite scaling graphics from the 80s and 90s racing games to bring a real, authentic retro experience to modern hardware. The game on the new-gen consoles, especially the PlayStation 4 uses the console’s extra power to provide smooth, constant 60 FPS gameplay.

Slipstream comes from solo Brazilian developer Sandro Luiz Paula, who had been working on the game’s development for 4 years. Sandro made his own custom game engine that uses the sprite scaling graphic techniques, allowing the game to bring a real and authentic experience.

The game comes with 6 different game modes. From Grand Tour where you can race through a scenic trip through five stages to Cannonball and Grand Prix, where you can customize your own race, or race in a championship of five races, scoring points.

You also have the normal modes such as the Single Race, Time Trial, and even a Battle Royal added into the game for good measure. Plenty of new ways to race in this retro arcade game.

We recently reviewed the game where we gave the racing game an 8.5/10 and a real tribute to retro racing games that all racing fans have grown up playing and loving.
