Sonic the Hedgehog movie has been delayed into 2020 after the fan outcry faced by the directors on Sonic’s design for the movie. The movie was initially planned to release on November 8, 2019, but the new release date for the movie is February 14, 2020. Looks like we will have to wait a few months before we see our favorite blue hedgehog in action.
This was announced by the movie director Jeff Fowler who tweeted that they are taking some more time to make Sonic just right. This clearly points to the fact that the team is now working to make Sonic a Hedgehog rather than the creature they showed in the original reveal trailer for the movie a few weeks ago. Fans of the series were very upset about Sonic’s design and there was a lot of outcry.
Earlier Jeff promised the fans that they will remodel Sonic for the movie and now it has been confirmed because instead of pushing the team even further, they now have a little extra time to cope up for all the extra remodeling that they have to do in the movie for Sonic now. Jeff also includes a hashtag in his tweet saying ‘no VFX artists were harmed in the making of this movie’ which clearly shows this very concern shared by the community earlier.

Further details are still unknown about the movie however since the team is now reworking on Sonic’s design, we can expect a considerate delay until the next trailer arrives for the movie. However, we are sure that the next trailer for the movie will certainly show us what changes the team has done to Sonic to improve him for the movie according to all the fan feedback they received after the release of the first trailer.
