The Last of Us Part 2 Banned

The Last of Us Part 2 is reportedly banned in the Middle East where the list includes countries like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. This comes according to a Reddit post by Ghostechful who contacted the PS Store in the UAE for the pre-order of the game but were replied with the confirmation of the ban and its unavailability in the country.

The email reply by the PlayStation Support specialist confirmed the ban saying that any game that does not appear or exist on the Store region means that the game is banned by the “competent authorities” of the country and they cannot do anything regarding that.

The game is just a few weeks away from being launched and is one of the most anticipated titles of the year, including Cyberpunk 2077 and Ghost of Tsushima. On the other hand, the official Twitter account of the PlayStation Arabia is still promoting the upcoming game, while also having made the State of Play announcement for the game scheduled for today.

Interestingly, the game is also found on the PS Store of the Middle East regions, but without an option for a pre-order. However, this was the same case with Final Fantasy 7 Remake when it did not get any pre-order option in some stores of the Middle East, but was still released on the launch date. This also might be a case for The Last of Us Part 2, but we still have to wait for more information.

If one questions the game’s rating and the sexual content it might be featuring, this is not something new. The game has the confirmed nudity and sexual content rating by the ESRB, where similar games have already been released in such countries without any issues. The Last of Us Part 2 releases next month on June 19 and will launch exclusively on the PlayStation 4.
