Crafting Guide – The Surge 2

Our The Surge 2 Crafting Guide details everything that you need to know about crafting in The Surge 2 and how to use it effectively.

Where to Craft in The Surge 2

As hard as some of the battles can be in The Surge 2, crafting is very simple in the game. It even shares the same space as that of the normal character leveling up. You can access the gear menu from every Med Bay in The Surge 2. There’s one located in every major area of the game so all you need to do is find one and then head to the Gear menu where you can choose your loadouts, craft new weapons, gear, and items and even upgrade the ones that you only have with the parts you have acquired on your journey.

Acquiring Schematics, Weapons, and Components

Before you can actually start crafting in The Surge 2, you must acquire some schematics for weapons and gear. To do so, you will be required to fight like an absolute savage and chop off limbs and parts from your enemies. For weapons, you must chop off the arm in which they are holding the weapons. This will give you an instant weapon to use in the game. For schematics, you must tear off the part of your enemy that you want to acquire gear schematics for.

For example, if you want to acquire a gear for your right leg, find an enemy with a weaker right leg, keep hitting hit and when the prompt appears, chop it off using your saved battery charge and you will acquire the schematic and some components to craft the gear piece back at your Med Bay. You must know that gear has to be crafted back at the Med Bay whereas any weapons that you chop off your enemies can be used instantly.

Crafting Gear

Once you have chopped off some legs and arms, find the nearest Med Bay and get to the Gear menu where you will find the tab ‘Construct’. Here you can see the requirements for the particular gear piece that you want to construct. You will also require some scrap to construct the required gear piece along with the components. In most cases, you might need to farm a little before you can craft a gear piece but luckily, The Surge 2 has no shortage of enemies so simply go out there, chop the desired limbs, collect components and come back to craft your required items. For arms and legs, you will need to construct the full set for both arms and legs. Keep this in mind.

Upgrading Weapons and Gear

If you want to stick with your current weapons and armor for some time, you can do so by making them more effective by upgrading them. Upgrading is cheaper than crafting new items so it will be a good choice for you often in the game. You can upgrade your weapons and gear in your Gear menu at every Med Bay. It is located right next to the Construct tab and it works similar to Construct tab as well.

All upgradable weapons and gear pieces in your inventory will have an icon on them and you can then spend components and scrap to increase their tier. Increasing their tier will ensure that they are more capable in battle scenarios. Weapons will deal more damage and armor will take more hits. You will need components from the higher tier weapon and gear to upgrade so keep chopping enemies and you will eventually find them.
