Gato Salvaje has revealed new information about their upcoming RPG The Waylanders and this time around, the focus is all on pets. Responding to fan feedback, the developer has announced that players will be able to have pets in the game as pets are a vital component of any RPG game. These pets will assist you in various tasks including fighting the enemies that you will encounter on your journeys throughout the world of The Waylanders.
With that being said, most of the classes in The Waylanders are unable to have pets but if you need a pet, then Ranger is your class to go. They have a choice of choosing a pet from twelve different and unique creatures. Each pet comes with its own unique perks and bonuses. These pets are always in your party and they can be ordered certain actions in the game.
- Ranger can have the following pets in the game:
- Dog – A furry friend with a distracting bark and sharp bite
- Wolf – A cunning pack hunter with a self-healing attack and an invigorating howl
- Wild Boar – A tough ally with sharp tusks and a devastating charge
- Deer – A swift fighter with sharp hooves and a hard skull
- Rabbit – A lightning-quick companion with some unexpected tricks
- Bear – A fearsome guardian with savage jaws
- Raven – A dark omen on wings with a razor beak
- Jay – A colorful bird with sharp talons and a swooping assault
- Panther – A lithe predator that favors pouncing and biting
- Spider – A patient, terrifying huntress with a prickly web
- Dragon – A legendary beast with powerful wings and explosive breath
- Drake – A scaly-skinned carnivore with a lethal charge and deadly breath
Despite this amazing lineup of pets, you cannot pet them in the Early Access launch build. However, the developer is still open for suggestions and if enough fans want a petting feature, it is something that could make its way into the game. Along with the Ranger class, Magic classes will also have special spectral creatures that they can summon in order to fight alongside them. For example, Summon the Wild will allow a Healer to call a spiritual guardian who will aid the party.
If you use Traste the goblin’s ‘Friends! Ability’, you can also summon some wisps to help you out in battles. You can use these Wisps as ammunition for different abilities or just explode them near enemies to damage them.
The Waylanders was revealed back at Gamescom 2019 and since the initial reveal, we have seen plenty of updates regarding the game. Make sure that you check out the previous videos which showcase the Character Creator, Voice Cast, Celtic Age locations that will be featured in the game.
