Apart from revealing Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood, Bigben also announced a brand new tabletop RPC adaptation at PDXCoN Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong. Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong was earlier teased at Bigben Week 2019 however the publisher finally revealed more information on the brand new title based on the Vampire: The Masquerade franchise.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong is being developed by Big Bad Wolf studio and is slated for release in 2021. Big Bad Wolf studio is a narrative RPG specialist and the author of the award-winning game The Council. Vampire: The Masquerade set a high bar for tabletop games and is one of the most iconic role-playing game of its generations. The game was first published back in 1991 and it introduces the vampire myth into modern societies.

Players take control of one of the vampires who are hiding in the shadows of the cities and struggle to control their bloodthirsty instincts by living a life of predator and outcast at the same time. The game is set in a world where the boundaries between reality and the supernatural are always blurred. These vampires who exist in The World of Darkness are superior and more sophisticated than the solitary monsters of the ancient legends.

The secret of these modern vampires living in human society is the shield of secrecy called The Masquerade which is organized into complex secret societies. These vampires create their own laws and are also members of distinct clans who share contrasting visions of their role in the world. Big Bad Wolf studio, thrilled with the success of The Council, intends to continue specializing in narrative RPGs.

This is relatively a new genre that they are trying their best to define with their creations. With the brand new adaptation of Vampire: The Masquerade, the team is working on one of their most ambitious projects. According to the developers, the game features a strong story combined with solid RPG mechanics that respect the rules of the fifth edition of Vampire: The Masquerade and the universe of The World of Darkness.

Thomas Veauclin, Creative & Art Director at Big Bad Wolf says:

At the studio, we’re long-time and passionate fans of the tabletop role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade. We have wanted to create a video game inspired by this universe for several years now. This project fits perfectly with Bigben’s desire to expand its catalog of narrative games. We are very happy to be unveiling it together.

This brand new narrative RPG has been adapted from the 5th edition of Vampire: The Masquerade. Players will take control of 3 vampires who belong to different clans of the Camarilla which is a vampire secret society. The story of these 3 vampires is intertwined and the player will need to confront the different points of view of his characters to unravel fact from fiction.

The story will feature whispers of conspiracy, murder and power struggles and players will need to protect his clan, discover the truth and while doing so, must ensure that all rules of The Masquerade are enforced which is the vampire law designed to conceal the existence of vampires a secret from the humans and their traditional world. More details about the game and its story will be shared in the coming days.

Benoit Clerc, Head of Publishing at Bigben adds:

My past experience as an editor and author of role-playing games, and also as Editor-in-Chief of an RPG magazine, is proof of how important this project means to me personally. Just like me, many fans have been waiting a long time for a new adaptation of this cult game, which will be developed by one of the most talented studios of its generation.
