It looks like Microsoft is going for a partnership with Nintendo with bringing in Xbox Game Pass to Nintendo’s Switch console. Microsoft had earlier in the month revealed that it plans to make Xbox Live compatible with mobile platforms and Nintendo Switch.
Although it is still a rumor going around, and nothing has yet been officially confirmed, the rumor also adds that titles like Ori and the Blind Forest will be coming to the Switch. The game was an Xbox exclusive which Nintendo will be getting as well.
The news was revealed by Direct-Feed Games, which is known for its rumors that are known to be correct. It has allegedly contacted several sources and has confirmed that Microsoft and Nintendo are working together, with more details to be expected later in 2019.
The source of this rumor also explained how Microsoft is planning to publish more software on the Nintendo Switch. This does not come as a shocking revelation as Microsoft has already been looking to expand the Xbox Game Pass service and has technologies to do so.
Microsoft is also expected to release an Xbox App on the Nintendo Switch system. This will allow Game Pass subscription service and support Project xCloud. The cloud is will enable the Nintendo Switch to stream powerful games with streaming technology.
Nintendo on the other hand looks happy to allow third party publishers to stream their games on Switch, the idea of bringing Xbox Game Pass and its streaming of bigger titles on the Switch shows the shift in Nintendo’s attitude.
For now, Microsoft will be adding exclusive indie games on the Switch, with more to follow. But the ability to stream powerful games on the Switch once Project xCloud goes live can be the game changer for players on the Switch. Xbox Game Pass has a lot of very good games that many fans would love to be playing on the go
