Microsoft has been working on a disk-less, all-digital Xbox One S console called the Xbox Maverick for some time now and it seems that the pre-orders of the console could start next month. Xbox Maverick is reportedly going to be called the “Xbox One S All-Digital Edition”. Pre-orders are expected for mid-April 2019 which is around the corner.
Xbox Maverick is going to be the first console from the company that is going to ditch the disk drive and physical game copies. This could mean that the console will be cheaper. You can already get the Xbox One S and PS4 for around $200 during sales and it will be interesting to see the price tag of this upcoming console from Microsoft.
Talking about the design, it should be similar to the regular Xbox One S but without the disk drive. When the Xbox One was launched it was marketed as an always online console. This can be seen as the same thing in a way. A long time has passed since then and I think that people are not ready to ditch disks and many people already have.
You can expect to see multiple bundles of the console with actual special edition designs rather than just bundled games. A Fortnite bundle is planned but this is something that we will have to wait and see so take it with a grain of salt.
Phil Spencer has already talked about how the Game Pass could be coming to other devices in the future and he has mentioned that there will be some big announcements at E3 this year. That has got us all excited about the event and what Microsoft will be revealing there.
Let us know what you think about the upcoming Xbox Maverick and whether or not you are ready to go disk-less in 2019.
