If you have played the original game, then you will remember that Link only starts with a few hearts at the start of game however you can explore the world and collect more heart pieces hidden around the game which will give you even more health.
However, the original game featured only 12 heart pieces that you could find in the world. The remastered The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening comes with a whopping 32 heart pieces which means that you can increase Link’s health a lot more this time. Just like the original game, you have to look around the world and collect the heart pieces to increase your overall health. We have listed all 32 heart piece locations below so that you can find them easily and increase Link’s health.
Heart Piece Locations Guide – The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
Our Zelda: Link’s Awakening Heart Piece Locations Guide details the locations of all heart pieces in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.
Heart Piece Location #1
Head to the well located in the west of Mabe Village and head inside it. Once inside, you will find the heart container sitting in the small pond that you drop into. To get inside the well, go around the cliff and cut the bushes. You must have a sword to get to this heart peace.
Heart Peace Location #2 and #3
In the middle of the map, you will find the Trendy Game. Play the game, pick up the heart peace and collect it. This will get you another heart piece. Once you have collected the first heart piece, you can play the game again and another heart piece will sometimes appear as a prize. Keep playing the game and you will eventually find it as a prize.
Heart Piece Location #4
Head to the Town Tool Shop and you can simply purchase a heart piece for 200 rupees. You can pick it up and walk outside and you can get it free.
Heart Piece Location #5 and #6
Head to the fishing pond in Mabe Village and catch a small fish to obtain a heart piece. Once you have caught the smaller fish, try again and this time catch a bigger fish. This will nab you another heart piece.
Heart Piece Location #7
In Ukuku Prairie, there is a cave which is easily visible on the map with a set of stairs going up which are initially blocked by a rock. Enter this cave and you will find a chest and a heart piece. Navigate your way around by avoiding the weak spots in the ground and moving the rocks around until you reach the heart piece.
Heart Piece Location #8
From your last cave, move further right in Ukuku Prairie until you come to a location which has some holes in the ground. On the left side of these holes, you will notice a small rock protruding out from the bigger rock wall next to some trees. Plant a bomb here to make this explode and it will reveal an entrance to yet another cave.
Enter the cave and navigate your way around the traps and rocks until you get to the side where the chest is sitting. Go up from the chest and you will notice a crack in the wall. Plant a bomb here and blow open the wall to reveal another secret area inside the cave where the heart piece is sitting.
Heart Piece Location #9
In Koholint Prairie, there’s a place which has a lot of holes in the ground with some bushes in the middle. You will need to jump in the bushes between these holes to grab the heart piece here.
Heart Piece Location #10
For this heart piece location, you will need the hookshot. Head to the location marked on the map below and you will arrive at a tree log leading to a secret location. Head inside this log and use your hookshot to move around the chasms to reach the final spot where the heart piece is located. Push the rock in your way down and grab the heart piece.
Hear Piece Location #11
Now head to the location marked to the map below and you will find yet another tree log leading to a secret area. There are some bats inside this cave so watch out. The rest of the formula is the same for reaching the heart container which involves pushing rocks around and picking up and throwing the skulls around.
Heart Piece Location #12
For the next one, you need to head to the secret entrance marked on the map below. Remove the rocks in your path and use the entrance to go down into the secret area. Once down, move right and you will find the heart piece behind some rocks. You will need the hookshot and Roc’s Feather to get to this one.
Heart Piece Location #13
This next one is located in the Tabahl Wasteland. At the top side, there are three holes in the ground between two trees. Check behind the tree located on the right side and you will find a heart container.
Heart Piece Location #14
Head to the location marked below on the map and move to the top while cutting the bushes and avoiding the holes in the ground. You will find the heart piece sitting here easily.
Heart Piece Location #15
Head to the secret entrance marked on the map below and enter the cave. Once inside, swim a little in the water and you will find the heart piece after avoiding the second fish here.
Heart Piece Location # 16
Head to the location marked below to find another heart container. The marker is sitting where the heart piece is located however you can go around the huts to reach it easily.
Heart Piece Location #17
At the same location, go back to the other side from where you gained access behind the huts and you will notice a small rock protruding out the main hill. Plant a bomb here to open a secret entrance here. You will require Roc’s Feather to move around inside this secret cave and getting the heart piece. You will also need your Bow and Hookshot further deeper in the cave to blow up some rocks and crossing chasms so make sure that you come prepared.
Heart Piece Location #18
At the location marked on the map below, there’s a sinkhole. Go to the center of this sinkhole and you will be sucked into a secret location. Once you are down, plant a bomb at the crack in the wall to open up the way further towards the heart piece.
Heart Piece Location #19
There’s yet another secret entrance at the location marked below in Ukuku Prairie. Head inside the entrance and you will find the heart piece at a deeper location in the pond down here. You will need flippers for this part.
Heart Piece Location #20
This one is located on the left side of the castle entrance in the water down below. You will need the Hookshot to cross the holes in the ground to reach the entrance towards this water bit.
Heart Piece Location #21
There is a cave right next to the waterfall marked on the map below. The heart piece is located inside this cave. You will need Hookshot and flippers to get it.
Heart Piece Location #22
Head to the location marked below on the map and you will find a heart piece on a small patch of land between the fast-flowing water. You will need to navigate the water using your Hookshot if you want to reach the heart piece.
Heart Piece Location #23
You can obtain another Heart Piece by completing the Rapids Race.
Heart Piece Location #24
Head to the cave marked on the map below. Once inside, dive down in the deeper area and you will get the heart piece.
Heart Piece Location #25
There’s another heart piece located at the location marked below on the map. You will need to swim a bit to get to it.
Heart Piece Location #26
Enter the secret entrance marked at the map below to find another heart piece inside the cave.
Heart Piece Location #27
Head to the location marked on the map below and you will come to a location which has only 1 bush. Cut this bush and it will reveal a secret path in its place going down. Head downstairs and you will notice a crack in the wall after going down the stairs further. There will be some enemies in the next areas. Kill them and then move right through the hole in the wall to find the heart piece.
Heart Piece Location #28
Head to the location marked on the map below and you will find another heart piece on a tight path above a cliff.
Heart Piece Location #29
This heart piece is inside the dungeon located at the very top left of the map. Inside the dungeon, you will find a hidden staircase in the room which has the flying and two snakes like enemies. Use the staircase and you will emerge at the top of the dungeon where you can finally see the heart piece in some bushes. Use the stairs to get to the heart piece.
Heart Piece Location #30
The next one is located inside the SeaShell Mansion. You will obtain this one as a gift inside the mansion.
Heart Piece Location #31 and #32
This one is located in Dampe’s Shack. Complete the first four Dampe Dungeons and he will award you with a heart piece. Complete the second set of dungeons and you will be awarded another heart piece.
