The first mission in Zombie Army 4: Dead War is Dead Ahead and across the course of all chapters of the mission, you will find plenty of collectibles. You will find different collectibles in each chapter of the mission and we have detailed all of them below.
There are five unique types of collectibles in Zombie Army 4: Dead War. You can collect Documents and Comic Pages as well as Upgrade Kits. Apart from these, you will often find rogue Zombie Hands running around which can only be collected by shooting them. The final collectible in the game is Heroic Acts. These are special situations in the game where you will be required to assist and save survivors. You must save the survivors in order to collect this collectible type.

Chapter 1
This section of the guide details the locations of all collectibles found in Chapter 1 of Mission 1 Dead Ahead.
Collectible #1 – Document
Play through the very first area of the chapter by killing the zombies until you arrive at the military check post. Enter through the gates and go all the way up the stairs ahead. Once you are inside, keep going ahead and turn right but do not go up the stairs just yet. Check the table right next to the stairs with the typewriter on it and you will find the document sitting on it.
Collectible #2 – Comic
Now go up the stairs and enter the room right up ahead where you will find roof light sparking. Check the cupboard under it and you will find the comic sitting there.
Collectible #3 – Zombie Hand
Keep playing the game until you are tasked with clearing the radio tower from all the zombies. At this point, instead of looking at the tower, look down below in the courtyard and you will find a zombie hand running around on the ground near some barrels. Shoot it to collect it.
Collectible #4 – Upgrade Kit
Clear the radio tower and move on where you will be tasked with reaching the safe room. After entering through the door which was locked previously, turn right before checking with the guy with the two crates in front of him. Ahead, you will see a door blocked with some wooden panels. Break the panels with your melee attack and go in to find an Upgrade Kit inside.
Chapter 2
This section of the guide details all collectibles in the second chapter of Mission 1 Dead Ahead.
Collectible #5 – Upgrade Kit
Right at the start of Chapter 2, you will have some free area inside the safe house. Turn left in front of the workshop and go down the stairs where you will find the shooting game. Speak with the man standing behind the counter to begin the shooting game and win all rounds to unlock the prize room. Once done, head inside the room and you will find an Upgrade Kit inside.
Collectible #6 – Upgrade Kit
Speak with Edie before leaving the safehouse and you will find an Upgrade Kit right there sitting on the counter.
Collectible #7 – Comic Page
Keep playing the mission until you come to a door that has a Blood Seal on it. Clear the zombies to unlock the door and once you enter it, you will find yourself ambushed by a lot of zombies suddenly. Inside this small room, check the other side of the tables on the right side to find a comic page sitting there.
Collectible #8 – Zombie Hand
Keep playing until the reach the platforms and you have to ‘Climb Up The Overturned Carriage’. Clear the first section of the platform and reach the end until you have to climb inside a train and reach the other side of the platform where you will find a ramp to go up the train. Before going up, look at the top of the train on the right side where you will find a Zombie Hand running back and forth on the roof of a carriage. Shoot it to collect it.
Collectible #9 – Upgrade Kit
Clear the platform and reach the end where you will be introduced to Suiciders. In this area, right after entering, turn right and go to the back where you will find some stairs heading up. Go up and you will find an Upgrade Kit inside the small room at the top.
Collectible #10 – Document
Before entering the final room where the Suicider exploded in the cutscene, check the room on the left side with a candle in the middle to find a document sitting on a small table between two beds.
Chapter 3
This section of the guide details all collectibles found in chapter 3 of mission 1 Dead Ahead.
Collectible #11 – Document
Start chapter 3 and on the first platform, clear the area and reach the point where you have to go down in the underpass. Before going down, take the path on the right and check the shops where you will find a document at the end.
Collectible #12 – Heroic Action
Continue playing the game until you have to climb some stairs up to reach the platform where your train is arriving. When you get to the top, a cutscene will begin showing you a few zombies attacking two survivors. You must save them in order to complete this Heroic Action. You will also earn a reward.
Collectible #13 – Upgrade Kit
After the previous Heroic Action, continue back up but don’t turn right and go towards the chasm just yet. Instead, turn left and go down the stairs and then immediately turn right and back. Ahead, you will find a large crate with a Preacher inside it and an Upgrade Kit in the back. Pick it up.
Collectible #14 – Zombie Hand
When you reach the location where you must get to the Signal House and you drop down the cliff before the big platform where zombies are falling down from the roof, check to the left and you will see a Zombie Hand running around near some barrels. This is right after you drop down from the cliff.
Collectible #15 – Comic Page
The final collectible of Dead Ahead is located right inside the Signal House. Go down the stairs and you will find the Comic Page sitting on the table next to documents and a typewriter.
