Obsidian Entertainment, the developer behind Fallout: New Vegas and the Pillars of Eternity, have formally revealed their upcoming new title called The Outer Worlds. The game is a first person RPG that is set in space. The announcement came during The Game Awards 2018, streamed live across multiple streaming platforms.
Prior to the release of the trailer, a teaser was posted on Obsidian Entertainment’s website before the game awards. The teaser showed images of retro space guns and local grocery store items like food and skincare to tease out the next gaming adventure.
The trailer with the extended reveal confirmed the sci-fi vibe it has in the game, which will also please the Fallout player fanbase. The game also hints that it will be a first person RPG, while leaving players to make tough choices. There is no doubt that the colorful and futuristic world will offer plenty of shooting action in the game.
Take a look at the trailer below:
The Outer Worlds has been teased for weeks over at the Obsidian Website. The game appears to have similar sort of gameplay found in Bethesda’s popular line of the recent Fallout titles. It comes as no surprise as Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarksy, who have co created the original Fallout, are the leading developers of The Outer Worlds.
All things aside, a release date has not been confirmed. However, it was mentioned that it will be coming in 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
The announcement of The Outer Worlds comes a month after the Microsoft revealed plans of acquiring Obsidian Entertainment. In a statemen, Microsoft said, “Obsidian would continue to operate autonomously and bring its unique talents, IP, and expertise to Microsoft Studios as they build new RPG experiences for our players and fans.”
